LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Mark Wahlberg is one of the most well-known Hollywood actors and one of the few who could make the leap from acting to music. But he willingly left Los Angeles behind to give his family a "better life."

In an interview with 'The Talk', Wahlberg shed some light into why he made the move to Nevada. “I want to be able to work from home,” Wahlberg, 51, said. “I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there. So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”

Wahlberg has four children with wife Rhea Durham: Ella, 18; Michael, 16; Brendan, 13; and Grace, 12. The 'Daddy's Mansion' actor listed his Beverly Hills home for $87.5 million before the big move. He had paid just $8.25 million for the enormous 30,500-square-foot estate back in 2009. The mansion boasted a home theater, a wine cellar, a five-hole golf course, a tennis court, a skate park, and a separate guest house in addition to its 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms, as per Page Six.

According to sources, his home would be the most costly one ever sold in the neighborhood if it fetched the asking price. Wahlberg modified the Beverly Hills estate to make it the ideal home for raising his children, before eventually moving out for the sake of their future. Besides, he wanted Nevada to be the location of a 2.0 Hollywood studio, open a shoe factory, and make it the new home base for his brand Municipal, a company he founded in 2019.

Wahlberg decided to relocate to Nevada to better provide for his children and spend more time with his family, considering he has a busy schedule between his numerous enterprises and acting profession. “We came here to just kind of give ourselves a new look, a fresh start for the kids, and there’s a lot of opportunity here. I’m really excited about the future,” Wahlberg said.

Wahlberg shared a schedule of his daily activities on his Instagram Stories a few years ago, and the routine quickly gained notoriety for its unusual rigor. The actor and businessman detailed days that started with a 2.30 am wake-up and ended with bedtime at 7.30pm. Since then, Wahlberg, 51, has made some adjustments. He now sleeps in until 3:30 in the morning. He has also adopted intermittent fasting after being persuaded to do so by his buddy and Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel.

Wahlberg also said in a recent interview with Hello! Magazine that he was looking forward to celebrating the holiday season with his family in their new home. The whole family getting together and spending time together is Mark's favorite family ritual. "Thanksgiving was always the best holiday because everybody would come. You know, obviously my siblings and then our extended family," the Flecha Azul Tequila investor shared. "We always try to get together as many people as possible."
