Marjorie Taylor Greene tears into media over Meghan-Harry interview: 'Nobody cares about stupid royals'
Controversial Republican House member Marjorie Taylor Greene has hogged the limelight again and it is for yet another wrong reason. The QAnon sympathizer has lashed out at the conservative media over its coverage of the British royal family following the bombshell interview that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave to Winfrey Oprah recently, saying “nobody cares about the stupid royals”.
The first-time Georgia representative, who was stripped of her two committee assignments in early February over her controversial social media history in which she allegedly promoted violence and far-right conspiracy theories, slammed the media saying it was getting distracted by the British Palace drama and not going after the Democrats for the “s**thole” of DC.

The 46-year-old lawmaker, who has remained defiant in the face of criticism and even accused her party colleagues in the House of working to “destroy America” after they joined the Democrats to vote down her motion to adjourn ahead of a debate on the blue lawmakers’ coronavirus relief bill worth $1.9 trillion, said the Oprah interview was a distraction from President Joe Biden’s legislative agenda, including the relief bill that he signed.
'Our conservative media has got to do better'
“The news, our conservative media has got to do better. They’re sitting here talking about the royals — nobody cares about the stupid royals. What we need to look at is the consequences of these deals,” Greene told former White House aide Steve Bannon on his “War Room” podcast on Thursday, March 11.
The controversial lawmaker, who claimed to have made an impeachment move against Biden soon after he took office, said: “I gave up an awesome life to be here, I gave up an American dream to come into this, what I consider to be a s–thole because I’m pissed off, because I’m watching the greatest country in the world burn down.”
Greene also said on the occasion that she never wanted to be in politics but was pained by the state of the country. “Our country is on fire and we’re just — it’s like that meme, you’re sitting in there, and you’re like the little dog and everything is on fire. I never wanted to be in politics, I’ve actually always been disgusted by politics,” she told Bannon.
The lawmaker also called DC an industry that is profitable for lawmakers, irrespective of the party. “Politics is a business, it's an industry, it generates so much money, it's an economy in itself. So whether it's Republicans or Democrats these people are all invested in keeping this industry going, this big nasty pool that we call the Swamp, but it's really its own economy,” she said in the podcast.
“Business as usual is the whole reason why we're losing our country and business as usual doesn’t work and it’s a failure,” she added. “If business as usual was the way regular people ran a private company, people's companies would fail and then they would be left homeless.”
Coming back to the sensational interview that Harry-Meghan gave, most of the media outlets in the US appeared sympathetic to the high-profile couple, who now reside in California. The networks mostly focused on the bombshell allegation of racism and Meghan’s confession that she had thought about suicide after she felt being unguarded by royal institutions during attacks by the British tabloid press. In Britain, the media has found deep repercussions over the interview with Piers Morgan’s dramatic departure from ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ over his attacking remarks about the couple, especially Meghan, marking the climax.
