Whom did Marjorie Taylor Greene call 'Rep Mussolini'? Jewish Italian-American Democrat responds with 'get lost'
After House Democrat David Cicilline proposed a rule change to block Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from forcing motions to adjourn, she called him "Rep Mussolini" in an interview. Greene used the derogatory nickname after she was asked about the proposed rule change championed by Cicilline that would only allow a member to make a motion to adjourn if they were a member of a committee.
Her insulting comment sparked a fair amount of fury online and Cicilline, the Rhode Island Democrat, also lashed back at her. Last month, Greene was stripped of her committee assignments by House Democrats after her controversial posts on social media including conspiracy theories and threats of violence against Democratic leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, resurfaced. When Newsweek asked about Cicilline’s proposal, Greene said, "Do you mean Rep Mussolini?"

"Not only did Democrats unilaterally strip away my committees, now they want to remove any powers I have to represent my district," she added. "The Democrats run the House of Hypocrites with tyrannical control,” she added. Cicilline's proposal came after Greene's latest motion to adjourn during the final vote on President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill. But her motion failed as 41 Republicans joined Democrats in voting against her.
House Democrats might not be the only ones who have had just about enough of her. It has been previously reported that GOP lawmakers have been growing frustrated by Greene's motions to adjourn since they are largely a delay tactic. Reportedly, each of Greene's attempts to adjourn has failed as more and more Republicans have joined Democrats to vote against them. Republican Representative Dan Crenshaw of Texas told CNN on Tuesday, "I am not voting for any more motions to adjourn. These things are the games that both sides play. I'm not a fan of it from either side."
'Marjorie Taylor Greene can get lost'
Cicilline responded to Greene’s interview comments on Twitter, calling her out, saying, “I’m an Italian and a Jew. Mussolini was a fascist dictator in league with Adolf Hitler, who murdered six million Jews. Marjorie Taylor Greene can get lost."

Mussolini was a fascist dictator in league with Adolf Hitler, who murdered six million Jews.
Marjorie Taylor Greene can get lost.
Many along with Cicilline mirrored the sentiment. "Marjorie Taylor Greene is lost. Her remark, as well as many other similar ones she's made, is a reflection of who she is. Its barrel bottom level is a measure of the level she crawls at..." A user shared, "Thank you for everything you do. MTG reference to a fascist dictator has upset my elderly husband to no end. His grandfather settled in Providence and become a very successful business man...I will be spending my evening trying to calm him down. Her words are hurtful and cruel."

Many people asked for her removal. "She needs to be removed from Congress. The Republicans absolutely have the power to remove her. There needs to be serious talks with the Republicans to achieve this goal." Another asked, "So how do we get rid of her and her destructive ways?" Some social media users have also promised to replace her. "Congressman @davidcicilline, on behalf of Georgia, I apologize that you had to endure such an unwarranted attack. I’ve made it my mission to provide you with a better colleague from the Great State of Georgia," said one such tweet.
