LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A crime drama inspired by 1975 television series and a feature film, ‘SWAT’ is an exciting and thought-provoking series. It offers a unique concept of the work of law enforcement in America’s second-largest city. The show follows the LAPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics team's activities while dealing with high-risk situations and dangerous criminals in Los Angeles. With the completion of six seasons of the action drama created by Nicolas Bradley and Shemar Moore, ‘SWAT’ was unexpectedly canceled by CBS, leaving its cast and fans heartbroken.
But fans were having none of it and neither was star and producer Shemar Moore. After the cancelation, Moore blasted the network in a Instagram video that then swelled into a fan campaign. Just three days later, CBS ceded and 'un-canceled' the show. The co-production between Sony Pictures TV and CBS Studios, will now get a seventh and final season on CBS with 13 new episodes. ‘SWAT’ premiered on CBS in 2017 and has been praised for its realistic portrayal of law enforcement and expertise in action-packed thrill. The show stars Shemar Moore as Sgt Daniel Harrelson, Lina Esco as Christina Alonso, Stephanie Sigman as Jessica Cortez, Alex Russell as Jim Street, Kenny Johnson as Domonique Luca, Peter Onorati as Jack Mumford, Jay Harrington as David Kay, David Lim as Victor Tan, Patrick St Esprit as Robert Hicks, Amy Farrington as Piper Lynch, and Rochelle Aytes as Nichelle Carmichael.

Why did CBS initially cancel ‘SWAT’?
CBS announces the cancellation of ‘SWAT’ days ahead of the Season 6 finale. The upsetting and unexpected announcement left the cast in pain as the news was a shocking decision. The reason behind the cancellation is not the poor ratings; rather, the show has been doing great for the last 2 years. Season 6 garnered a substantial increase in viewers, placing the show among the Top 20 TV Dramas.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for CBS and Sony as ‘SWAT’ is a co-production between the two production companies, and the industry has decided to move forward with complete ownership of the series. In addition to ‘SWAT’, a handful of other series renewals also ended up with cancellations.
Shemar Moore emotional video had fans rallying behind the show
After the cancellation news broke, ‘SWAT’ actor Shemar Moore slammed the CBS network and shared his grief. He shared an Instagram video describing his pain and anger toward the network. He said, “‘SWAT’ got canceled. It makes no sense. We’re the best show on Friday night at 6 o’clock on CBS. For the last two years, we’ve been killing it.” He continued, “Did you know I am the only African-American male lead on network television? Not streaming, not cable.”
Moore added, “‘SWAT’ is the most diverse show on CBS. CBS when I got hired to be Hondo on ‘SWAT’, I was getting a lot of flack for lack of diversity. If I post this, and I think I might, I will get in a lot of trouble with CBS because I’m calling ‘em out, cause they’ve been wonderful to me for 26 out of my 29-year career.” He ranted out at CBS for abruptly canceling the show after hinting for weeks about the semblance of the show and for not letting us say goodbye if not continue. His pain is clearly visible in his voice as he invested his blood, sweat, and tears for six years in the show.
'Keep fighting guys, we are not finished with this’
Along with the cast, fans mounted a campaign when the cancellation news came out and the severe backlash might have contributed to CBS backtracking so quickly. A Twitter user wrote, “Keep fighting Guys !!! We are not finished with this !!!” Whilst another user wrote, “KEEP IT UP EVERYONE!!!
