Madonna was criticized after she responded to being banned from going live on Instagram after repeatedly violating the app's community guidelines with her nude posts.

The 63-year-old songstress expressed her outrage at the ban on Friday, May 20, after realizing she was unable to go live with her 18 million followers for breaking the app's rules. She later reminded her followers not to "spam" or "post nudity" on the platform. In a video of the moment she learned she had been blocked, Madonna quipped that she had "never worn so many clothes in my life." However, the Queen of Pop has previously had risqué content removed by the app.

"Not Us!!!! violation of community guidelines……….," Madonna captioned her latest post.

Later, the 'Papa Don't Preach' hitmaker shared a video on her Instagram Stories saying she was "speechless" and wondered if her post on NFTs last week could have been the reason for the ban, considering they featured digital scans of her own vagina, aside from naked depictions of herself giving birth to trees, butterflies, as well as robotic centipedes, the Daily Mail reported. "It's weird, they're being really mysterious about why, they're not giving me a reason. It's like a bureaucracy inside a computer," Madonna said. "I haven't done anything lately, nothing crazy this week anyways... it may be a delayed reaction from my NFTs last week. I'm sorry to let everyone down, I was looking forward to this. I pledge allegiance to the censorship people," she added.

However, the singing sensation was ridiculed in the comments section for her posts.

"Madonna is outraged, so are we, we have seen the photographs," one commented.

"She could have aged gracefully and been a legend, instead she's just trashy and hideous and a laughing stock," another wrote.

"She's outraged because she is not used to being told no. She surrounds herself with people who feed into her ego. It's sad to see because she was such a trailblazer for our age group. Before one of her fans comes at me, I was and still am a fan of her music. I am not a fan of her recent behavior," someone else added.

Madonna sparked backlash last week after sharing graphic NFT videos on her social media accounts. The 'Hung Up' singer teamed up with digital artist Michael Joseph Winkelmann -- known by his social media sobriquet 'Beeple' -- to make three NFTs (non-fungible tokens) that were meant for mature audiences. The clips consisted of close-up shots of Madonna's vagina, created using scans of the singer's own genitals. The videos are currently unavailable on her account, although it's unclear if the posts were removed by Instagram or if she took them down.

Madonna previously lashed out at the platform in November for taking down one of her posts that contained nudity. She branded the app's strict policies as "sexist" and likened the social media stigma around female nipples to that of the "lies" about the Pilgrims' "peaceful" treatment of Native Americans at Thanksgiving. It's worth noting that Instagram clearly states in its Community Guidelines that nudity is not allowed on the platform and that the female nipple falls under that umbrella. That said, there are exceptions for "photos in the context of breastfeeding, birth-giving and after-birth moments, health-related situations (for example, post-mastectomy, breast cancer awareness or gender confirmation surgery) or an act of protest are allowed." Meanwhile, the platform also allows nudity depicted in paintings and sculptures.
