Eileen Saki, who played Rosie in ‘M*A*S*H’, dies at 79 from lung cancer
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'M*A*S*H' actress Eileen Saki has died at the age of 79 after battling cancer. The star died on Monday in Los Angeles, California
Saki was well-known to fans for her role as 'Rosie's Bar's owner Rosie in the popular 1970s comedy. Saki also had roles in 'CHiPs' and 'History of the World: Part I'. She co-starred with Tom Hanks as Dr Fujimoto in the 1984 movie 'Splash'.

'Our sweet Eileen. Our sassy Rosie'
'Our sweet Eileen. Our sassy Rosie,' said 'M*A*S*H' co-star Jeff Maxwell while paying tribute on the official Facebook page. "On behalf of her husband Bob, we extend sincere appreciation for the hundreds of 'M*A*S*H' fans who filled Eileen's final days with peace, encouragement, and love. She read every email and responded to as many as she could. How we love you. How we will miss you", the statement read.
In another post, Jeff added, "A special woman, Eileen captivated you with a twinkle and smile in her soul. I am very grateful to have had that experience. It’s one I will cherish forever. My heart and love go to Bob and their family. Love you, Eileen and Rosie."
'She was gracious, funny, engaging, insightful, adorable, filled with M*A*S*H stories'
Jeff recalled her as a guest on his podcast and added in the post, "She was gracious, funny, engaging, insightful, adorable, filled with 'M*A*S*H' stories, and exhibited more energy than I remember having twenty years ago. She spoke with great love for all the cast members but was particularly appreciative of her interaction with Executive Producer and director, Burt Metcalfe. The visit with her was pure joy as she filled every word with joy, life, and love."
The veteran actress died in Los Angeles
Throughout the course of 'M*A*S*H's 11-season run, the character of Rosie was played by three different actresses, but Saki holds the title of being the final and longest-running Rosie, from 1972 to 1983. Family sources confirmed to TMZ that the veteran actress died in Los Angeles on Monday after a battle with cancer.
As per Sun, Saki recently made an appearance in an Uber Eats ad a few months ago alongside Los Angeles Rams' defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Last month, 'M*A*S*H' actress Judy Farrell died after suffering a stroke that left her hospitalized for nine days. The star known for playing Nurse Able in the war show died at the age of 84.
