'Love & Hip Hop: New York' fans slam 'toxic' Phresher for asking Jennaske to get her 'body done' to become like Cardi B
This week's 'Love & Hip Hop: New York' episode was nothing short of a full-blown theatre performance.
Jennaske has been working on acing the rap scene. And to do so, she has been regularly working on her rapping skills. But, what good is talent without some exposure? Enter Phresher, a Brooklyn-based rapper, who promises to discuss their music collaboration further over dinner.
Jennaske walked into the restaurant picturing a whole new future ahead of her, but the conversation went sideways went Phresher began to focus on everything but her career as a rapper.
He assured her she would live a glamorous life with a luxurious pad and fancy wheels, but to get to the top she'd have to go through some changes and it needs to start with her body.
Phresher went on to explain that in the rap/music industry, "image" is very important and a chunk of one's career depends on how willing one is to go through a transformation.
It's very easy to compromise with one's integrity when in return you get a life you've always dreamed of, but Jennaske took her time and rejected the idea saying that her only focus is music and that's what she wants her life to be all about.
Fans are siding with her while calling out Phresher for laying out such an awkward proposal. They believe the success of an artiste doesn't depend on the way he/she looks.
"Salute to the artistes who rose to the top w/o relying on plastic surgery. Phresher is talking about how all artistes are getting it done. Let's revisit how Remy Ma DID NOT (along with a host of other femcees)," a fan wrote.
Another expressed that Phresher's approach was uncomfortable to watch. "I'm mad uncomfortable watching phresher on #LHHNY trying to get Jennaske to get her body done... like eeeew. I hope she becomes successful just doing what makes her happy. #VH1 scripted or not, I’m cringing!" the user tweeted.
"Jennaske, PLEASE don't touch your body. Many fans don't care what the artiste looks like #LHHNY," a fan pleaded.
"From Amara's look being too Black to Jennaske needing a new body, these industry men are toxic af, actin like they are grooming artistes. smh #lhhny #lhhmiami," a viewer pointed out.
