"Comedians have one job and that's to make an audience laugh," Australian comedian and actress Rebel Wilson is seen saying at the beginning of the trailer for 'LOL: Last One Laughing'.

Ten Australian comedians are locked in a room full of props and whatnot for six hours. They must do everything in their power to make each other laugh without themselves giving in. And as the title goes, the last comedian standing upon having proved his/ her mettle has a prize in store. It is the Australian version of 'Hitoshi Matsumoto presents Documental' hosted by Hitoshi, Japan's most popular comedians and TV hosts. Following the successful release of multiple seasons of the same format by Amazon Prime Video in Japan and Mexico, 'Last One Laughing Australia' will premiere exclusively on Prime Video as the first Amazon Original series in Australia. Here is everything you need to know about the Australian variety show.

The comedy-variety series 'LOL: Last One Laughing Australia' premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 19, 2020. 

Plot

According to the official synopsis, "Ten professional comedians will be locked together in a house challenged with the task of making all of the other comedians laugh while keeping a straight face themselves. The last one to laugh is the winner, taking home the title of "Last One Laughing", along with the comedic street cred and an AUD$ 100,000 (roughly $67,000 USD)."

Cast

Season 1 of 'Last One Laughing Australia' will be hosted by Australian international star and comedian, Rebel Wilson.

In the first season, Australian comedians who will be featured are Anne Edmonds, Becky Lucas, Dilruk Jayasinha, Ed Kavalee, Joel Creasey, Frank Woodley, Nazeem Hussain, Nick Cody, Sam Simmons and Susie Youssef. 

Creators

The series is written by Hitoshi Matsumoto and directed by Gary Deans and Jun'ya Komatsu. Wilson also serves as the executive producer on the show alongside Marty Benson and David McDonald.

Comedians are locked in a room for six hours and must use anything and everything made available to them in the room from ridiculous props to sex toys, to make the others laugh without giving in. These six hours are filled with hilarity as each tries to outdo the other with brutal insults, silly jokes, utilising props and whatnot. 

Where to watch

Season 1 of 'LOL: Last One Laughing Australia' premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 19. Going by IMDb, the show drops its six episodes through three weeks with the finale episode premiering on July 3.
