'Little Women: LA' star Christy McGinity's baby girl dies two weeks after premature birth
Tragedy struck 'Little Women: LA' star Christy McGinity and her boyfriend Gonzalo Justo Carazo as their daughter passed away just two weeks after being born. Their baby girl, Violet Eva, was born seven weeks earlier than expected.
"It is with our deepest sorrow that we send our baby girl Violet Eva Carazo to play with the angels," Carazo confirmed the tragic news, according to a statement obtained by two media houses. "We were able to spend two weeks with our sweet baby girl and for that we are forever thankful. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated."
On March 10, Christy and her boyfriend announced the arrival of their bundle of joy. Her premature arrival was a cause for celebration for the parents, who were quick to share the news with the world. Violet was born on March 6 and she weighed a meager 3-lbs-15-oz and was 15 inches long. A week ago, Christy had shared a video from the hospital of a very happy Carazo signing Violet's birth certificate.
Reports of her pregnancy surfaced in August last year after which she took to her social media to confirm the good news. "I'm so excited that we are having a baby. What a big blessing. Good things come to those who wait. Our bundle of joy is coming April 2020," she wrote on her social media. Along with the news of her pregnancy, a report had suggested that sources close to her have mentioned that Christy's is a high-risk pregnancy given her age, but everyone was happy and excited regardless of the scare.
What led to the baby's death is yet to be known. However, in February, the Lifetime network star had asked her fans to pray as she was experiencing contractions and was worried that her baby girl would come even earlier than she actually did.
Christy is a mother to two grown-up children — Autumn and Trenton — from a previous relationship and Violet was her first baby with boyfriend Gonzalo.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the couple and their families.
Her show 'Little Women: LA' is expected to return later in 2020 on Lifetime.
