LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lisa Marie Presley was "stressed" about having to appear in public in the months before her death. According to family sources, she was unable to take the pressure leading up to the Golden Globes since she had grown accustomed to feeling anonymous throughout Covid and felt completely exposed during the period leading up to the awards show.

On the other hand, she also realized she had to make public appearances to promote 'Elvis', a biopic about her late father Elvis Presley. With the film gaining critical acclaim and several honors throughout awards season, Lisa Marie was required to be there for the promotional tour, which included an appearance at the Golden Globes on January 9, 2023, three days before her death, as per reports from Honey|Celebrity.

How did Lisa Marie die?

Lisa Marie had heart failure two days after the awards event and was taken to the hospital. She died soon after, at the age of 54. MEAWW previously reported Lisa Marie Presley, singer-songwriter and daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died after suffering a “full cardiac arrest”. The news of her death was confirmed by Lisa’s mother in a heartbreaking statement that shocked everyone.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment,” the statement read.

What happened in the days before her death?

When Lisa's son Benjamin committed suicide in July 2020, it completely devastated her world. Lisa did not want to be seen by anyone as she processed her sadness. When she did leave her house, she felt safe because a mask covered most of her face; this made it so she was not noticed by anyone, which was reassuring. Additionally, in 2021 and 2022, Lisa spent most of her time at home, but three months before the Golden Globes, she realized she would be the focus of the 'Elvis' movie in public, which terrified her.

The 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet' singer, who had struggled with addiction for years, reportedly turned to opiates and weight loss pills to appear her best for red-carpet events. Lisa Marie allegedly lost 40 to 50 pounds before attending the 2023 Golden Globes, where Austin Butler won Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for his portrayal of Elvis Presley. “Were it not for the Golden Globes, Lisa might be alive today,” an insider told TMZ.

Lisa's last public appearance

Lisa's last public appearance was at the Golden Globes, where she appeared unstable on the red carpet, telling her friend Jerry Schilling, “I’m gonna grab your arm” for support. After her death, 'Extra' host Billy Bush, who interviewed Lisa Marie at the Golden Globes, stated, "She was very uneven in her balance." He added, “The speech was very slow. And, definitely, when the interview was over, I turned to my producer next to me and said, ‘Something’s off here,'" as reported by Page Six.
