Lingua Ignota accuses Daughters' Alexis Marshall of violent sex, bodily harm, cheating

Musician Kristin Hayter, known professionally as Lingua Ignota has leveled sexual, mental, and emotional abuse allegations against her former boyfriend Alexis Marshall, the frontman of rock band Daughters. The latter's management company Sargent House todok to Twitter to confirm they were no longer working with him since August. "We ceased working with Alexis Marshall back in August. We made no public statement at that time because we wanted to respect Kristin's privacy and her timeline for when she felt ready to come forward. She has now and we continue to stand in solidarity with her," the tweet read. This was in response to Ignota's lengthy statement detailing the abuse she endured while dating Marshall from July 2019 to June 2021. "I’ve decided to release my full statement about my experience at this time. Hopefully, this will answer any questions and clarify timelines. Heavy content warning."
2021 has seen a surge in sexual abuse allegations against the music industry bigwigs. In November, Trey Songz was investigated for an alleged sexual assault at a Las Vegas hotel. This accusation came more than a year after a woman named Aliza accused Songz of not allowing her to leave a hotel room after he confiscated her purse and phone. Earlier this month, Evan Rachel Wood claimed her rocker ex-beau Marilyn Manson had threatened to "f**k her 8-year-old son" forcing her to fearfully amp up security at her home. In August this year, a woman identified as JC claimed she was sexually abused in 1965 by Bob Dylan. She was 12 at the time and she accused Dylan of feeding her drugs and alcohol before abusing her.

'I was fully penetrated while sleeping without consent'
Ignota's statement reveals her ex-beau Marshall was a sex addict and this "addiction to one-sided sex affected me in extreme ways." She claims to have been subjected to "multiple sexual assaults/rapes where I was fully penetrated while sleeping without my consent." This was after she told him that his behavior was "not ok with me." Ignota wrote she was used for sexual gratification in extremely uncomfortable situations which she consented to out of fear that Marshall would contact someone else to fulfill his needs or become upset that she wasn't doing what he wanted.
"Alexis sustained patterns of lying and manipulation to excuse his behavior; he blame-shifted, minimized, denied, and provoked me so that he could call me aggressive and crazy. He used my past of domestic violence against me to claim what he was doing wasn’t that bad because it was not physical battering. He was jealous and resentful of my professional relationships and isolated me from friends. He took advantage of me financially. He blamed me for everything that was wrong in his life," her statement further says. Ignota revealed that she attempted suicide in December 2020 in the basement of their home but Marshall's response to this was "cold and unfeeling." She claims Marshall used "self-harm and threats of suicide" to manipulate her whenever she tried to cut off contact from him. She accused him of regularly cheating on her, humiliating her by commenting on her weight and food which aggravated her body dysmorphia, and lying about being married among other things.
Ignota was at danger of irreversible bladder and bowel function due to a sex injury
Ignota wrote she was regularly subjected to violent sex but on one occasion she sustained an injury that left her physically incapacitated for months. She claims he didn't stop despite her crying out in pain and voicing that she was hurt. "In one incident of objectifying, violent sex, Alexis caused a severe injury to my spine and did not stop when I told him I was hurt. This injury resulted in debilitating pain and physical incapacitation for months. I needed surgery to treat this injury, a massive lumbar disc herniation that created an emergency condition called Cauda Equina Syndrome, which threatened permanent loss of bladder and bowel function."
Ignota claims Marshall continued to demand sexual attention from her constantly despite the severe injury. She needed his support during and after the surgery but Ignota claims Marshall abandoned her 24 hours before she was operated upon. "I drove him to the airport exactly 24 hours before my operation, and he said, 'I know this is bad timing, I love you the most'." To read the full statement, click here.
