'The Wrong Real Estate Agent' Review: Vivica A Fox's brilliant acting saves Lifetime's predictable suspense film
Lifetime Movies is back with another film from the "Wrong" franchise titled 'The Wrong Real Estate Agent'. The film stars Vivica A Fox in the lead role. Other actors who will be appearing in the film include Andres Londono, Alaya Lee Walton and Tom Sandoval.
Vivica A Fox plays the lead role of Julie, Alaya Lee Walton essays the role of Julie's daughter Maddie, Andres Londono plays the character of Julie's psycho lover Charles White and Tom Sandoval plays the character of Connor, a handyman. The film revolves around a single mother Julie, who is also a real estate agent, and her teenage daughter Maddie. Julie, who is searching for a house, finds a beautiful home in a prime location with the help of her ex-flame Charles, who is also a realtor. But Julie had no idea what surprises the new house will bring in her life.
As soon as Julie moves in, she starts hearing noises of a door opening and shutting. Every night, she looks around the house but finds nothing. She starts suspecting Connor of doing the mischievous act, but later, the story unravels a very different truth as it turns out that Charles had installed cameras in the entire house and used to live in a vacant room in the house, which he told Julie was a store room. Charles' madness turns into a murderous affair after he murders Julie's online date Ron and the blame comes on Connor. But the forensics team finds out that Connor was not behind the murder or any of the mysterious events, in fact, he himself was later killed by Charles.
Even though the storyline of the film was good, the makers added unnecessary clues and characters in the film. The film shows a character named TJ, who is Julie's neighbor. He visits Julie's house to take a bath when nobody is there. The presence of this character and the directorial logic behind the character's existence in the film is a big question.
Also, in one scene Connor, is seen stalking Julie and Maddie through a window, which again was unnecessary as he had nothing to do with the mother-daughter duo. In order to add mystery and suspense to the film, the characters went "over the top". The only thing that saved the film was Fox's amazing acting skills.
The makers have used a lot of gratuitous shots in the film, including TJ's shower shots and a random waiter's close up shot when Julie went out with Ron. Even though the storyline of the film was good, a major part of the film looked dragged, guessable and superfluous.
'The Wrong Real Estate Agent' will release on January 1, 2021, at 8 pm ET.
