Zayn Malik was the first one to quit One Direction in 2015 before the all-boy band finally disbanded in 2016. Refreshing everyone’s memories, one of the former members of the band Liam Payne shared a TikTok video where he poked fun at Zayn for quitting the group. Interestingly, the video belongs to 2015 and apparently, it was lying in Liam’s drafts all this while.

The 28-year-old singer-songwriter can be seen making cute expressions as he passes a quirky statement on Zayn quitting the group. Liam can be seen relatively young in the short clip which soon broke the Internet on Monday, September 6. While the former One Direction member shared the video in good faith, he quickly got pulled up for clout chasing. One Direction was one of the biggest boy bands of all time breaking several records on the charts. After the split, all the members of the band namely Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn  then pursued their respective solo careers.

Liam Payne pokes fun at Zayn Malik

Liam, who enjoys more than five million followers on TikTok, surprised his fans with an old video of his where he can be seen poking fun at Zayn. In the selfie video, Liam can be seen saying, “Are we absolutely sure what direction we’re going”. The ‘Sunshine’ hitmaker also dropped a short text in the video, that read, “POV the meeting after Zayn quit” followed by multiple emojis of a laughing face. He added, “Forgot I had this in drafts.” Liam also posted a caption of the viral clip writing, “Forgot I made this awhile ago. Hope you see the funny side.”

While a few enjoyed the video, others pulled him up for clout chasing. However, some of his loyal fans then decided to take a dig at the haters. Speaking of Zayn, he had apologized to his fans when he left One Direction back in 2015. He had then said he wanted to be a “normal 22-year-old” who can relax and have normal time away from the spotlight. The handsome hunk, who is now a father of one kid with Gigi Hadid, last dropped his solo music in early 2021.

Social media users took to Twitter as soon as Liam shared his old TikTok video and to reiterate, he got slammed for clout chasing. Speaking on similar lines, one user stated, “Something abt liam payne using the zayn situation for clout doesnt sit right w me.” While supporting Liam, another elaborated, “Learn the definition of clout chaser before you put it in the same sentence with liam payne. He was in the same band with Zayn, they share a lot of memories and history. He would never use him for attention. He is allowed to mention him whenever he wants.” Another livid Zayn fan tweeted: "LIAM PAYNE IS FUCKING UNHINGED WITH THAT LAST TIKTOK." Another called it the 'Liam unhinged era."
 
The next one shared, “It’s OK for Liam to make that joke. Man, it’s not like Zayn died and he’s making a joke about it. Plus, y’all would let it pass if it was Harry.” One user added, “Liam payne what the f**k was that one direction zayn tiktok.” One person followed it with a tweet, “Liam Payne was brave for that tiktok about zayn i don’t think some people will be happy about that one hahahah.” Another concluded, “You’re all so stupid and like to find anything to hate on liam for. he’s saying the rest of the boys didn’t know what direction to go in after zayn left because he was such a big part of the band. if anything, this TikTok is a compliment to Zayn.”
