Months after The Weeknd slammed the Grammys for completely snubbing him in the nominations over his album ‘After Hours’, it is now R&B singer Zayn Malik who is dragging the Recording Academy into the same pool. The former One Direction member, who released a bunch of singles in 2020, had a few unapologetic words for the renowned institution after he could not score a single nod this year.

Expressing his frustration, the ‘Pillow Talk’ hitmaker took to his Twitter account and slammed the Grammys over their biased voting process. However, soon things took a turn when TV and media personality Perez Hilton tweeted on the same asking if this was a shade against Harry Styles. The Internet then did not waste any time to crucify Hilton on the micro-blogging site saying where did Malik even mention Styles.

‘F** the Grammys’

Zayn Malik had released his third studio effort titled ‘Nobody Is Listening’ in January 2021 but the process of the 2021 Grammys ended in August 2020. However, it seems like the crooner had to take a few things off his chest and with an intention to take an aim at the Recording Academy, he tweeted, “F**k the Grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.”

Malik had also released a single from the album called ‘Better’ in the month of September and even was not eligible for Grammys 2021. Malik is yet to receive a Grammy nomination. However, his and Taylor Swift's collaboration on ‘I Don't Wanna Live Forever’ from the film ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ did earn a 2018 Grammy nomination for best song written for visual media, but the nomination went to songwriters Swift, Jack Antonoff and Sam Dew.

Grammy Awards are all set to air on March 14 where we will see artistes like BTS, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Doja Cat, Lil Baby, John Mayer and others performing at the 63rd edition of the prestigious ceremony.

‘Wait. Is this shade against Harry Styles?’

The Internet was already abuzz with the new Grammys row when Perez Hilton made it worse by tweeting, “Wait. Is this shade against @Harry_Styles ???????” Harry Styles and Zayn Malik once used to part of the group One Direction but no longer see each other eye to eye.

Moreover, Harry Styles is up for three Grammy awards this year — Best Pop Solo Performance for his first Billboard Hot 100 number one hit ‘Watermelon Sugar’, Best Pop Vocal Album for his sophomore album ‘Fine Line’, and Best Music Video for ‘Adore You’.

‘Stop trying to stir up unnecessary drama’

Harry Styles' stans and Zayn Malik's fans soon took to Twitter to slam Perez Hilton for twisting the entire matter. One user stated, “Im not sure where you saw harry’s name in this, the world doesn’t revolve around him. zayn was just stating the obvious issue w the grammys, not everything is about harry.”

Another stated, “I reread the tweet before writing, at no time is Harry mentioned. Because you call someone more successful and recognized shadow than you.Turn off the cell phone when you're about to say stupid things.” One posted, “Go back to reporting on tiktokers. was harry ever mentioned? hes talking about the favoritism and racism in the industry that him and many others are facing.”

The next one shared, “He’s trying to bring attention to how poc are mistreated in the industry, nowhere in this tweet does he mention harry. stop trying to stir up unnecessary drama and find a hobby.” One added, “Idk why solo Harry stans are giving so much f**k to Zayn for this, y'all seem to forget how Grammys snubbed HARRY STYLES, and did not nominated Fineline on major awards. Just shut up I guess.”

One user added, “It's not this has nothing to do with Harry it's the truth about the Grammys and Zayn has gone through so much racism so don't make this about something else instead help make the music industry better.”

A user stated, “Zayn Malik tweeted EFF the Grammys and some words trashing the awards, upset at his lack of nominations, BUT... he released his single and album AFTER the deadline for consideration. He wasn’t even eligible! How embarrassing.” A user concluded, “The grammys are literally so gross they snub all the amazing artists who deserve to win awards it’s so obvious how biased they are.”
