'Grabs my heart': Lewis Capaldi fans help finish song as viral video shows him struggling with Tourette's tics mid-show
FRANKFRUT, GERMANY: When Lewis Capaldi's Tourette's syndrome tics flared up on Tuesday night in Frankfurt, Germany, fans stepped in to cover for him. While performing his biggest hit of the night, "Someone You Loved", the singer made an attempt to push through the final chorus, but ultimately backed off and let the audience take full control.
The 26-year-old Scottish musician first disclosed last year that he had tics, a neurological condition characterized by involuntary noises and movements. Lewis is seen turning away from the microphone in the now-viral video as he struggles with his head and shoulder twitching uncontrollably, as reported by DailyMail.

'I didn’t want people to think I was taking cocaine'
Earlier, Lewis Capaldi revealed he suffers from Tourette's syndrome. In order to prevent his fans from assuming that his twitches were caused by cocaine use, the Scottish musician said he wanted people to be aware of the condition. He said, "I have been diagnosed with Tourette’s. I wanted to speak about it because I didn’t want people to think I was taking cocaine or something." He further added, "My shoulder twitches when I am excited, happy, nervous or stressed. It is something I am living with. It is not as bad as it looks," as reported by MEAWW. In an Instagram Live session, he also talked about the condition with his followers, admitting that it could occasionally be "painful" and "uncomfortable," as per reports.
About Tourette syndrome
Tourette syndrome is a condition characterized by uncontrollably repetitive movements or unwanted noises (tics). You might, for instance, blink your eyes frequently, shrug your shoulders, or blurt out strange noises or offensive words, as reported by Mayoclinic.
The onset of tics typically occurs between the ages of 2 and 15, with an average age of 6 years. The likelihood of developing Tourette syndrome is roughly three to four times higher in men than in women.
