Bobbi Kelly Ercoline, the woman who was snapped along with her boyfriend hugging each other on the iconic Woodstock album cover has died at the age of 73 after a brief illness. The duo were in their 20s during the Woodstock's 1970 festival and went on to live together for the next 54 years. Her husband Nick Ercoline confirmed her death through a social media post.

He wrote on Facebook, 'It's with beyond great sadness that I tell my FB family and friends, that after 54 years of life together, of the death of my beautiful wife, Bobbi, last night surrounded by her family.” In his long emotional post, Nick continued, “She lived her life well, and left this world in a much better place. If you knew her, you loved her. She lived by her saying, '"Be kind". She didn't deserve this past year's nightmare, but she isn't suffering from the physical pain anymore and that brings some comfort to us,” reported Daily Mail.

'The iconic picture was captured by Burke Uzzle'

The young couple was photographed by the Magnum photo agency’s Burke Uzzle, beautifully capturing the vibe of the legendary festival. Bobbi can be seen looking in the direction of the camera, sporting a pair of thick yellow sunglasses, and draped in a pink and white blanket that her partner Nick is wearing. The picture was chosen as the cover of 'Woodstock: Music from the Original Soundtrack.' Moreover, a triple vinyl LP was released in May 1970 to accompany a concert film of the festival.

'I could hear the music and the announcements from a long way off'

Bobbie made Nick promise her three things before she passed away, which were, “'1. No more hospitals 2. Home is where she will stay 3. When her time comes for her passing, that I would hold her close.” He wrote, “I was able to accomplish these three promises as my sweet Bobbi passed from this world while I held her close with our sons next to us.”

Nick wrote for the Guardian in 2015. Recalling the days, he said, “I vividly recall the atmosphere: the sky was orangey pink from the lights, and it was misty. I could hear the music and the announcements from a long way off. Around us were families, couples, people shouting, babies crying, yodelling, banjos, bongos. The air was damp and smelled of campfires and pot. I'd not seen anything like it before.”
