You have heard of underground rappers, hip hop artistes and DJs. Now, watch a slew of underground ballroom dancers swaying their ways into your homes and hearts with a power-packed show that explores fierce competition, mind-blowing performances and extraordinary fashion.

Release Date

'Legendary' releases on HBO Max on May 27.

Plot

Dance divas will battle against one another in teams, or known as houses on the show. Each house will compete for a cash prize and will be judged on their fashion sense, costume styling and, of course, dance performance, as they strive to be titled "Legendary".

The show is unscripted and brings in a new angle to the classic dance competition format. Here's the official description of the reality show as released by HBO Max.

"In 'Legendary', a new HBO Max competition series that pulls from the underground ballroom community, voguing teams aka "houses" must compete in unbelievable balls and showcase sickening fashion in order to achieve 'legendary' status."

Judges

As the main cast, a panel of judges will preside and assess every team's performance and judge the best of the battles.

The panel includes celebrity judges Law Roach, Jameela Jamil, Leiomy Maldonado, and Megan Thee Stallion. The judging panel will also include a guest judge on a weekly rotation basis. MC Dashaun Wesley and DJ MikeQ will be hosting and running regular commentaries on the show.

Showrunner

The dance reality show is produced by Scout Productions, with Emmy Award winners David Collins (Queer Eye), Rob Eric (Queer Eye) and Michael Williams (Queer Eye) serving as executive producers.

Jane Mun (People’s Choice Awards, MTV Music Awards, America's Best Dance Crew) and Josh Greenberg (Lip Sync Battle, Sunday Best, America’s Best Dance Crew) also join as executive producers and showrunners for the HBO Max show.
