Who is Danielle Rose Russell dating? A look at secret love life of 'Legacies' Hope dubbed as 'sexually fluid'
'Legacies' is returning to The CW for Season 3 this week after the previous season ended prematurely due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The show, helmed by Julie Plec, was spun off from 'The Originals' which was, in turn, spun off from 'The Vampire Diaries', keeping the franchise going for more than a decade now.
At the lead of 'Legacies' is Hope Mikaelson, played by Danielle Rose Russell. Hope is the daughter of the great 'The Vampire Diaries' anti-hero, Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and werewolf, Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) -- making her the only vampire-werewolf-witch tribrid in the world.
At the end of the last season, Hope traveled into Josie Saltzman's (Kaylee Bryant) subconscious to save her from her dark side which was unleashed in the last season. Hope was able to bring out good Josie, but back in the real world, she had not woken up as the second season ended, leaving her fate undecided.
'Legacies' has diverged widely from 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'The Originals' in that the lead character is not heterosexual, which we found out when it was revealed that Hope had once had a crush on Josie. In an interview with TVLine, Russell said, "I guess I always knew that Hope was pretty sexually fluid, so that didn’t shock me."
Meanwhile, before the untimely end of Season 2, Hope was dating Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi). She also said, "I’m glad [the writers] established it in the real world, instead of in an alternate universe, so it can be a real thing. They can leave that there now, and we can move forward onto other things."
Who is Danielle Rose Russell dating?
Given that Hope's sexuality is a big part of fan discussions on 'Legacies', many may have wondered about Russell's dating life as well. However, the 21-year-old actress has kept her private life under the wraps and there is no publicly available information on her dating life. According to Celebs Couples, Russell is likely single.
Danielle Rose Russell's acting career
At only 21 years old, Russell — whose birthday falls on Halloween — already has a remarkable list of credits to her name. In addition to playing the lead role in 'Legacies', she played a prominent role in 'The Originals' in the show's final season, which perhaps played a part in 'Legacies' being picked up. When Russell debuted as Hope Mikaelson, fans would have been in awe given how similar she looks to Phoebe Tonkin who played her onscreen mother.
Russell's career in front of the camera began much earlier. She is the daughter of Rosemary Rado, a former dancer and Rockette, and Ricky Russell, a former singer. She began modeling at a young age and her first major role was playing the daughter of a Russian drug dealer in 'A Walk Among the Tombstones'. She went on to have roles in 'Aloha', 'Pandemic', 'The Last Tycoon' and 'Wonder' before bagging the role of Hope Mikaelson.
She is all for women empowerment
In an interview in 2018 with Schon Magazine, Russell said, "I’ve been meditating on ways to speak to and inspire women from all over." She went on to say that being a woman means being unstoppable, saying, "Feeling empowered to be a woman is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, and do not let anyone tell you otherwise." She has also spoken up for body positivity, saying, "Just by trying to embrace my body, I’ve faced way too much BS for being myself."
"It’s been a journey of learning to love every ounce of my individuality and uniqueness, but I am the person I am today because of the challenges and patronizing I have faced throughout my entire career," Russell continued. "I feel so incredibly empowered to be a woman, and I won’t let anyone take that away from me."
'Legacies' Season 3 premieres on The CW on Thursday, January 21, at 9/8c.
