'Teen Mom 2' star Leah Messer's ex Jeremy Calvert 'upset' she lied about miscarriage after aborting his child
'Teen Mom 2' star Leah Messer has penned a memoir 'Hope, Grace & Faith' which is out for sale on May 5 and the TV persona has been promoting the same for quite some months now.
She has made a number of shocking revelations in the book and the recent one is no less of a shocker but is also painful. An excerpt from the book reveals a confession by the reality star about an abortion that she had at age 19 while she was with her ex-husband Jeremy Calvert. The reason for doing so was that she was conflicted over her feelings with her ex-husband Corey Simms.
After knowing of it, Calvert in an interview with a publication revealed that it was really tough news to deal with. "I heard things about the abortion after the cheating scandal and before we got divorced," he mentioned. "In my heart, I never wanted to question a woman on that. Eventually, she did tell me the truth and it was upsetting to hear," he said.
Messer, now 27, reveals in the book that she had just gotten over with the divorce with Simms with who she shares two daughters, Ali and Aleeah and shortly after started dating Calvert. This in spite of the fact that she was "definitely not over" her ex-husband.
When Simms learned of Leah's relationship with Jeremy, he started developing "second thoughts" about the divorce and the two were faced with a decision whether to give their marriage another chance. However, Leah moved in with Calvert and he proposed even though the former was "twisted up in knots" over her ex-husband. Just weeks later post moving in, Messer learned of her pregnancy.
She wrote: “I was devastated. Having a baby with Jeremy would be the end of any chance Corey and I had of making things work for our family. I was sad for myself, but mostly I was sad for our girls. I knew I had f**ked up, and I felt like I had ruined their lives on top of mine.”
Messer claims in the memoir that her rep at that time had encouraged her to get rid of her unborn child and the former believed that the suggestion was to save her "public image". Things took a turn for the worse since she was not in a good place in her relationship with Jeremy because of her feelings for Corey. Leah had taken a pill from a clinic that caused her a lot of cramping and bleeding. Meanwhile, her mom Dawn and her rep "came up with a plan" to make it look like a miscarriage. Messer also revealed that her mom was the one who phoned Calvert to inform him of the tragic incident.
Things got really dark and "real" when Messer saw the embryo inside the sac. Her producers had sent in a team of camerapersons after she informed her of the incident and they filmed a "miscarriage".
“I can look back now without regret, but for the longest time, I wasn’t okay with the choice I had made. It felt so dark because it was hidden." wrote Leah in the memoir.
“It wasn’t until I was finally able to bring myself to tell Jeremy what had really happened that I started to realize that as long as I was living with the lie it would keep eating away at me. I carried the pain and the guilt around with me for years, until I finally got to the point where I could hold myself accountable for my choices without punishing myself for them.”
