Leah Messer is busy promoting her upcoming memoir 'Hope, Grace & Faith'. As part of the promotion, she did a live Q&A on her social media on Friday wherein she opened up about the deepest and the darkest moments from her life, including her father Gary Lee Miller's addiction to oxycodone.

She revealed her father's struggle when a fan asked if she has written about him in the book. "Yes, a whole lot. My dad was present in my life up until I was 6 or 7 years old. With the opioid epidemic they talk about today, my dad also ties into that. I started doing my open research when my dad started struggling with addiction and why. Turns out in 1995-1997, they started prescribing oxycodone, which was a highly addictive drug that they swore it wasn't. My father broke his neck and back working on bridges in West Virginia. From there he went to some doctor for worker’s comp. That’s how my dad became addicted to the medication and still is to this day.”

Earlier in January, the TV personality opened up for the first time about going through emotional turmoil and also revealed the sexual abuse she faced in childhood. She also spoke about her suicidal tendencies around that time in her life.

Speaking with a media outlet, Messer revealed that she told herself that she would allow herself to be "extremely vulnerable" while writing the book.

"The purpose behind the book is for others to be just as vulnerable and be able to share their truth without feeling shameful. For the longest time I think there were a lot of things in my life that happened that I felt ashamed of, definitely,” she mentioned in the interview.

She also made a passing mention of her sexual abuse but didn't delve deep or reveal the perpetrator. "It was going back to when my dad was very — Going back to sexual abuse and physical abuse, it was trying at times," she mentioned.

Leah's addiction to prescription pills is known to everyone. There was also one time when her ex-husband Corey Simms accused her of drug use when she was caught on camera slurring her words and falling asleep mid-sentence.

She promised that the book will dive deeper into her issues with addiction and the scary suicidal thoughts that came along with it - the one's that couldn't be played on TV due to time constraints. She also revealed that her daughters were the primary reason why she's still alive.

"Some things that are in the book would be the whole situation revolving around me having an addiction and how all of that happened and where it led me to. I was suicidal and I go into details about exactly how I was suicidal and why I was suicidal. And had it not been for my kids, which is why I named my book Hope, Grace and Faith, I wouldn’t be here today. There would be no Leah," she mentioned.

'Hope, Grace & Faith' will release on May 5,2020.
