Who inherits Larry King's wealth? Star divided $50M fortune among 5 kids in handwritten note, left ex-wife out
The late Larry King has reportedly left a handwritten will splitting his $50million fortune among his five children. The journalist, who reportedly died from sepsis on January 23, 2021, has apparently left out his ex-wife Shawn Southwick in the will. King died at a Los Angeles hospital shortly after he battled Covid-19 at the age of 87.
Recent reports reveal that he scribbled a few sentences during his last divorce declaring the distribution of his wealth. His last will and testament were reportedly written on October 17, 2019, roughly two months after he filed for divorce from Southwick, who was left completely out of the written will.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, King scribbled by hand after divorcing his seventh wife, "This is my Last Will & Testament. It should replace all previous writings." He went on to write that he wanted 100 per cent of his money to be "divided equally among my children Andy, Chaia, Larry Jr, Chance & Cannon".
Unfortunately, two of King's children passed away months apart in 2020. Shortly after he named them in the will, his son Andy reportedly died of a heart attack in July and his daughter Chaia died of lung cancer shortly afterward. According to TMZ, Larry Jr, one of his surviving children, filed documents asking to be the administrator of his father's estate, since King was in the middle of divorce proceedings at the time of his death.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, King's net worth is $50 million earned over his career as a prominent journalist and television personality hosting CNN's 'Larry King Live', on which he reportedly conducted over 30,000 interviews. Later in March 2012, King co-founded a production company, Ora TV, where he began hosting ‘Larry King Now’. The show was exclusively carried by Hulu and RT America. King also wrote a newspaper column in USA Today for over 20 years.
He has also made several film and television appearances such as 'Ghostbusters', 'Shrek 2' and '30 Rock' among others. King married Southwick King in 1997 and it was his longest-lasting marriage.
The couple shares two sons, Chance and Cannon. At the time of his death, they were still legally married. In August 2019, King had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. However, it is reported that the two are on good terms. Southwick King said that she was able to speak to him in the hospital on a video call due to Covid restrictions before he died. She said his last words to her were, "I love you, take care of the boys," according to Daily Mail.
King is one of the most prolific journalists of our time. He has Dalai Lama, Barack Obama, the late John F Kennedy Jr., Russian President Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Prince, Lady Gaga, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra and LeBron James in his portfolio of work.
