Lamar Odom managed to draw ex-wife Khloe Kardashian into the 2022 Oscars drama, claiming that if he had defended her as Will Smith did for Jada Pinkett Smith, they would still be together. After Smith, 53, slapped Chris Rock over a joke about Pinkett Smith, 50, at Sunday's awards presentation, Odom, 42, wrote on Instagram Tuesday, March 29, "Had I protected my wife versus mentally, emotionally and spiritually hurting her, I may still be married."

According to the former NBA star, the actor, "loves his wife." Odom added, "I do not condone violence against anyone. @willsmith loves @jadapinkettsmith I was told love covers a multitude of sins." In the years since he and Khloe, 37, divorced, Odom has admitted to numerous wrongdoings, telling Us Weekly in 2017 that he cheated throughout their marriage.

Did Jada Pinkett tell Will Smith to slap Chris Rock? Actor was laughing till wife rolled her eyes

"B***hes and THOTs came out of the woodwork," he said at the time. "If there is one thing I regret when I was married, it was having multiple affairs with different women. That wasn’t the stand-up thing to do. I wish I could have kept my d–k in my pants." Smith was merely attempting to be a nice husband to Pinkett Smith, according to Odom, even though the "King Richard" star failed miserably.

"I see everyone arguing the merits of this altercation, taking side, dragging them both to hell when it all boils down to love," he said in his Instagram post, "He loves his wife. She was hurting, it is a husband’s responsibility to protect his wife. That is what he vowed to God and her, he owes us ZERO explanation as to why he chose to hit @chrisrock."

While Odom claims he would not have attacked Rock, 57, over a joke, he understands why Smith "did what a husband is called to do" which is to "protect his wife, from anything and anyone who causes her pain," according to Odom.

Khloe filed for divorce from Odom in December 2013, following four years of marriage, but she later withdrew the paperwork when he was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel in October 2015. She helped him heal before starting divorce proceedings, which were finalized in December 2016.

Knowing what it's like to have your marriage scrutinized by the media, the ex-Laker, who only last month revealed he was doing his "damndest" to reunite with Khloé, urged fans to hold off on passing judgment on the Oscars show. "Last I checked we (the peanut gallery 😳) do not have a heaven or hell to put anyone in. Same thing that makes you laugh will bring you to your knees. Sending good vibes only," he wrote at the end of his post.

Twitter users reacted quickly to Odom's Instagram post, with one user writing, "Our beloved toxic King Scorpio Lamar Odom really woke up this morning and said “how do I make this Will Smith situation about me?” I’m screaming."

Another user tweet read: "Lamar Odom will always find a situation to circle back to Khloe Kardashian." One said, "he always makes everything about him and Khloe".

One Twitter user expressed her dissatisfaction with the his post, "Lamar Odom Wishes He'd Protected Khloe Kardashian Like Will Smith:A good man can do that for sure. We don't know much about Will Smith private life or cheating issues he has not been doing bad things publicly. But Lamar cant compare himself to Will, constantly hurting Khloe."
