Kurt Cobain's daughter Frances Bean Cobain reveals why she thought she'd never make it to 30
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Frances Bean Cobain the daughter of late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love admitted that 10 years ago she “wasn’t sure” she was going to make it to her 30th birthday, which she celebrated on August 18. Frances who had a troubled childhood seems to have finally overcome her struggles and is ready to embrace the growth of life.
The 30-year-old Frances shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, recollecting her past trauma, and promised herself that if she made it, she would "no longer try to escape the moments of my life." She wrote, “30 !!!❤️🔥☀️🦋 I made it! Honestly, 20 year old Frances wasn’t sure that was going to happen,” she shared several pictures of her and her loved ones. “At the time, an intrinsic sense of deep self loathing dictated by insecurity, destructive coping mechanisms & more trauma than my body or brain knew how to handle, informed how I saw myself and the world; through a lens of resentment for being brought into a life that seemingly attracted so much chaos and the kind of pain tied to grief that felt inescapable."

Frances then described how “an event on a plane which brought me closer to death” was the moment she began to feel gratitude for her life. “I’m glad to have proven myself wrong & to have found ways to transform pain into knowledge.” she added, "There’s a quote by @jaiyajohn I hold closely, which is “the softer she became with herself, the softer she became with the world”. It’s a sentiment I try to remember daily. Entering this new decade I hope to stay soft no matter how hardening the world can feel at times, bask in the present moment with reverence, shower the people I am lucky enough to love with more appreciation than words could ever do justice & hold space to keep learning, so the growth never stops. I’m happy to be here & I’m happy you’re here too. ❤️🔥 ☀️ 🦋"
Frances was just one and a half years old when her father Kurt died by suicide at 27. The loss of her father at a very young age disheartened Frances and was the major part of her grief. Frances who did not have a normal childhood struggled with mental health problems, addiction, and years of self-destructive behavior, the star finally got sober in 2016. She took to social media to share "The fact that I'm sober isn't really public knowledge, decidedly and deliberately. But I think it's more important to put aside my fear about being judged or misunderstood or typecast as one specific thing." Being the child of a celebrity isn't always so easy, and Frances has definitely learned it the hard way. However, the star surely has come a far way throughout her journey.
Frances’ new relationship with Riley son of Tony Hawk comes years after she filed for divorce from ex-husband Isaiah Silva. The two ended things back in 2016 after almost two years of marriage. Frances, 23, cited irreconcilable differences and that he’s not getting anything from her father’s $450 million estate. However, she is open to paying him spousal support. Silva got to keep her father’s famed 1959 Martin D-18E guitar, which he claimed he got as a wedding gift. Frances denied she ever gave him the guitar. Shortly after, the guitar was put up for auction. Frances is reportedly dating Tony Hawk's son Riley, who was featured in a carousel she shared to announce her return to Instagram earlier this year after taking a mental health break. "I wanted to share a few moments that were captured/created this past year that brought me a great amount of joy. Here's to hoping everyone's 2022 is filled with authentic connections, a lot of warmth & profound discovery of self 🥂 happy new year 🎆," she wrote alongside that post.
Here's wishing her another year of being older, wiser, and happier!
