'Tone deaf': Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott slammed for Astroworld head at Stormi’s party
Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott’s baby girl Stormi will soon be four, but her parents threw an early birthday party for her along with Kim Kardashian, whose daughter Chicago turned four on Saturday, January 15. The joint celebration was straight out of a pinky fairy world as from cakes to cookies to decorations, everything was pink in color. Though many people appreciated the decoration, there were some who noticed a huge inflatable balloon of Stormi’s head at the venue, which looked similar to the decor used at Astroworld that turned into a tragedy.
Fans reportedly first took notice of the huge balloon in the now-disappeared Instagram story of Atiana De La Hoya, stepdaughter of Travis Barker, which also included a bounce house and a common pink balloon display for Stormi and Chicago. They soon identified that the inflatable head resembled Travis’ Astroworld Festival’s decoration, where a huge inflatable head was placed that looked like the 30-year-old rapper. However, the show resulted in the death of ten people and wounded hundreds.

A person took to Reddit to mock the birthday decor by saying, “not the Stormiworld head.” Another person wrote, “Ugh....they can stop now it's been seriously creepy for a minute.” The third one added: “I don’t think Kylie should get the amount of hate and blame she does for AstroFest. However, this is in poor taste and giving tone deaf.”
A user commented, “Yikes… like why?? I can’t imagine how they could not associate that with what happened at Astroworld.” The second user questioned, “Yeah this was my reaction too like why would you want to invite that association just as it was starting to slip from peoples minds?” A comment read, “I’m sorry but these giant inflated heads at every party needs to stop, it’s just soo extremely tacky… it really bugs me when they have all the money and resources, not to mention influence, and they go for this over the top route every time.”
For the uninitiated, The Astroworld tragedy happened in November 2021 while Scott was performing live for his fans in Houston. At the time, he received a lot of backlash for ignoring safety protocols and continuing with his performance as people died. Later, he issued an apology saying, “I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival. Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life. I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support families in need. Thank you to Houston PD, Fire Department, and NRG Park for their immediate response and support. Love you all.”
Kylie had also apologized for the dreadful incident and said, “Travis and I are broken and devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost their lives, were injured or affected in anyway by yesterday’s events. I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing.”
