'The Hills' alum Kristin Cavallari and her former NFL player and husband Jay Cutler called it quits on April 26. The pair have three children — sons Camden Jack and Jaxon Wyatt and daughter Saylor James. The couple were together for almost 10 years and have been married for six. They were about to celebrate their 7th wedding anniversary on June 7.

A couple of hours ago, Cavallari shared the sad news with her 4M followers on Instagram. She shared a photograph of the two from one of their vacations, walking arm in arm, with the caption: "With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family." Cutler too shared a black and white photo of them from happier times along with the same caption.

The couple has had quite a relationship and here's a look at that over the years.

2009: The initial disinterest from Kristin's end

Their relationship almost didn't happen when Cavallari admitted to having "passed" on the opportunity to meet with Cutler. "I got a call from my publicist that Jay wanted to fly me out to Chicago and take me out. I didn't know who he was, I had to Google him. I was in the middle of filming 'The Hills' so I was like, I don’t want a boyfriend in Chicago and passed on it."

In her book 'Balancing in Heels: My Journey to Health, Happiness, and Making It All Work', she explained that she was not quite impressed by how she was approached by Cutler. "To be completely honest, years prior I had had a different Chicago athlete go through my publicist to ask me out, so I was a little weirded out by all these Chicago sports guys wanting to date me," she had said.

2010: Beginning of an intense romance

Cavallari was given tickets to a Bears preseason game when she was in Chicago visiting her mother. She had forgotten all about Jay's proposal and she ended up meeting him at the game and found him "really cute". In her book she wrote, “We hung out two nights later, and that began a swift and intense romance. I flew back to Chicago at least every two weeks. When we were apart, we texted constantly, and he wrote me the sweetest love emails. He was the strong, manly man I wanted but had a sweet, romantic side as well."

2011: The first breakup after Cavallari said 'we are in love'

In an April interview, she gushed about her fiance (they got engaged over the Easter weekend in Mexico). "Jay is a good Midwestern boy. He’s a gentleman. He opens up car doors and he did the laundry today, which I thought is pretty cool, so he’s a good boy. We’re in love." However, just three months later, they called it quits.

"A few things needed to change, and I knew the only way Jay would see how serious I was, was if I ended the relationship," Kristin wrote in her book, adding that Jay, "envisioned himself being the sole breadwinner and his wife staying at home".

However in October that year, they reconciled and Cutler sent the ring back to her in the mail and it was sitting pretty at Cavallari's house for some weeks before she put it back on again.

2012: Camden Jack Cutler arrives

Two months after rekindling their romance, the couple announced that they were expecting a baby. Cavallari admitted to People that breaking the news to Cutler's "traditional" parents was nervewracking but they took it quite well. Camden arrived in their lives on August 8 that year.

June 2013: The wedding

The couple tied the knot on June 7 in a civil ceremony and again on June 8 at Woodmont Christian Church in Nashville in front of 150 family and friends, followed by a reception at the historic Houston Station. Guests dined on Southern food and danced to a five-piece Motown band.

October 2013: Baby Jaxon Wyatt on the way

On October 30, 2013, Cavallari tweeted that their son Camden is about to be a big brother. May 7, 2014, marked the arrival of their second child Jaxon.

2015: Daughter Saylor James arrives

"We're at it again! Thrilled to announce baby number 3 is on the way! The Cutler crew just keeps on growin'!" the couple announced on Cavallari's app. Saylor James Cutler was born on November 23.

2016 and 2017 bring bad news

Cavallari had to deal with the heartbreaking news of her brother's passing due to hypothermia in 2016.

In 2017, Cutler was cut from the Bears team following which the couple packed up and left Chicago and settled in Nashville. Shortly after, Cutler was offered $10M to play for the Miami Dolphins.

2017: Cavallari says she'll be a single parent for sometime

She was "excited" for Cutler after the Miami Dolphins offer but was in no way ready to uproot her family once again to relocate to another city. "So, I’m a single parent for the next five months. It’s a little chaotic but in the best way," she jokingly told Entertainment Tonight.

2018: 'Very Cavallari' premieres on E!

'Very Cavallari' a reality series chronicling the life of Kristin as she balanced family life with her business ventures. The show was released on E!. The show offered an insider view on the couple’s life and their move to the Nashville farm. Cutler consoling Cavallari on her brother's third death anniversary was a part of it too.

2019: 'Very Cavallari' Season 2 premiere

'Very Cavallari' Season 2 arrived and was also renewed for Season 3 touted to arrive in 2020. The pair also starred in a holiday special titled 'A Very Merry Cavallari'.

March 2020: Bahama holidays

The Cutler/Cavallari clan flew to the Bahamas on March 15 for a family spring break vacation. They were stuck there for three weeks as travel and safety conditions became increasingly dangerous under the coronavirus pandemic.

April 2020: Divorce news

As we know it already, the couple has announced that they are getting a divorce and we hope that they find the strength to push through this difficult phase.
