Kristin Cavallari claims Jay Cutler is punishing her by not giving her money to buy new $5.5M home
Kristin Cavallari is claiming that her almost ex-husband Jay Cutler is 'punishing' her in their divorce by blocking her from buying her own home, which she had been looking to buy since last fall.
The 'Hills' star revealed on Sunday, April 26, that she and the former NFL quarterback were going to be getting divorced after being together for a decade. They were married for around seven years but shared they were growing apart. The pair had got married in 2013.
As per a new report, Cavallari had claimed in court documents that Cutler is trying to withhold some money that she had counted on to buy a new home while pushing her to stay at their Nashville abode, TMZ reveals. The couple share three children — sons Camden (7), Jaxon (5), and daughter Saylor (4).
Cutler had earlier 'never objected' to her buying her own home but had later had a change of heart when it was evident that things were so bad in their marriage that it was never going to last, Cavallari claims in legal documents.
She revealed that the couple had given their relationship one last run which had not worked out and 'divorce was inevitable'. They started to discuss the separation in March. The 'Very Cavallari' star also revealed that two have been alternating staying at their Nashville home every three days since their Bahamas vacation ended, US Weekly reports.
She also shared that she had signed paperwork on the $5.5 million Franklin, Tennessee home believing that there would be no issue financially after Culter's 'lack of objection in November'. In addition to the problems, Cutler had refused to leave their home in Nashville, she told the court.
She added that she believes that he is 'punishing' her post a Bahamian vacation on April 7 when he told her that he was not going to let her have money to buy the house. Cavallari is asking the court to make him pay back 'her portion of their funds'.
We had previously reported that the 'Laguna Beach' star cited “inappropriate marital conduct” and “irreconcilable differences” as the reasons for her divorce from Jay Cutler. She has also requested primary custody of their children in divorce papers.
The legal documents filed on behalf of Cavallari demanded Cutler pay for the children’s health insurance and other related expenses such as dental, orthodontic, and eye care. Cavallari claimed in the paperwork that the former footballer "is guilty of such inappropriate marital conduct as renders further cohabitation unsafe and improper."
The 'Hills' alum had announced her split from Cutler on April 26 in a social media post where she had written, "With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of."
"This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family," the post read.
