'Even heathens recognize true beauty': Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker slammed for 'mocking' Catholicism
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's extravagant Italian wedding ceremony has been condemned for "mocking" Catholicism. The reality star said "I do" in a white Dolce & Gabbana short gown with a gorgeous veil embroidered with the image of the Virgin Mary - a homage to a tattoo on the top of her new husband's head.
Kardashian wore a tulle headpiece that was hand-embroidered with a giant image of the Virgin Mary and the phrases "family loyalty respect," which were inspired by Barker's massive head tattoo with the same religious iconography and wording. The design “is a symbol of alliance, respect and common devotion,” according to Dolce & Gabbana's Instagram post and was surrounded by floral lace appliqués inspired by Portofino flowers. Barker, 46, is famed for being tattooed from head to toe and has previously spoken out about his religious-themed tattooing. “I got the Virgin Mary tattooed on my forearm when I was 18, 19 and I was brought up Catholic,” he told Vice in 2015.

He said in a November 2015 interview, “I definitely pray; I believe in God. I definitely think I was blessed … So I’m not at church every day and I’m not pushing religion on people. But I believe in God and I pray and my kids pray.” While Barker, 46, has freely discussed his Catholic faith, it is unknown whether Kardashian, 43, is a member. However, the Poosh businesswoman has released various writings on religion, quotations, and Bible passages via her Instagram Stories over the years.
Kardashian posted the photos from her lavish wedding. She captioned her post: "Happily ever after." She further wrote: "Introducing Mr. And Mrs. Barker."
Fans got offended by the infamous couple's Catholic wedding. One individual stated that Kardashian is not even Catholic, "Did you guys know that Kourtney isn’t even catholic and she’s using it as an aesthetic for her wedding?"
