LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The official trailer for 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' was unveiled at the Super Bowl on Monday, February 12, 2024.

The forthcoming movie is a sequel to 'War for the Planet of the Apes' (2017) and is positioned as the fourth installment in the rebooted 'Planet of the Apes' franchise.

The sci-fi action film unfolds approximately 300 years after the events depicted in 'War for the Planet of the Apes'. 

The storyline follows Noa, played by Owen Teague, as he sets out on a transformative journey with a young human named Mae (Freya Allan). Together, they grapple with the pivotal task of shaping the future for both humanity and apes.

The trailer teases the commencement of an exhilarating new chapter in the franchise, introducing a fresh storyline with a new cast while upholding the enduring legacy of captivating storytelling characteristic of the series.

Online discussions reflect the awe and fascination the trailer has generated, with many expressing amazement and being spellbound by its contents.

An X user labeled the trailer as "Promising" while another announced in excitement, "Holy s**t this looks so good man."

Fans are eagerly anticipating the film's theatrical release. Even a fan who initially had reservations about the sequel altered their opinion after viewing the trailer.

This fan expressed their change of heart on X, stating, "Oh this looks f*****g fire. Any concerns I had about this not being helmed by Matt Reeves have washed away. Dare I say, my most anticipated film of the year."



 

Another positive comment reads, "The fact that they had the OG writers on the movie made me hyped."



 

When is 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' releasing?

The upcoming sci-fi film stars Owen Teague, a 25-year-old American actor recognized for his roles in 'Bloodline,' 'The Stand,' and 'Mrs. Fletcher.' Joining him is Freya Allan, a talented England-based actress best known for portraying Princess Cirilla in the Netflix series 'The Witcher,' who takes on the role of Mae.

Directed by Wes Ball, 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Studios in the United States on May 10, 2024.
