King Charles wants Harry and Meghan to attend coronation but William fears couple's next PR 'stunt'
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Following the publication of Prince Harry's tell-all memoir, 'Spare,' calls are growing louder to keep him and his wife, Meghan Markle, away from the coronation. Nevertheless, his father, King Charles, seems to want to extend an olive branch, as it is reported that he wants his estranged son and daughter-in-law to show up. Prince William, however, fears that the event could be used by the Sussex Camp to pull off their next PR "stunt" and has let it be known that his brother's presence must be carefully planned.
The King has apparently turned to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, to mediate between his feuding sons so that Harry can attend the coronation, scheduled for May. Interestingly, this comes amid reports that the royal family's motto of "don't complain, don't explain" may soon be over. Daily Mail reports that King Charles could very well give his own interview and is now considering the possibility.

While William is reluctant to have his brother and sister-in-law attend the event, King Charles is said to think that the Sussexes' absence is a greater distraction than their presence, and is therefore willing to make some concessions. If rumors are to be believed, Harry may be assured that he will be given a high-profile seating at the event and allowed to keep his titles in order to persuade him to attend.
Prince William has indicated that his brother's appearance must be 'tightly scripted,' lest he and his wife Meghan might plan an impromptu walk or something similar to satisfy their own needs. An insider in the know has said, “The issue of substance is whether they attend the Coronation, and if they do, under what terms and conditions.” The source continued, “The family is split, and all the indications are that Harry is being advised to agree to nothing at this stage and 'play it long' right up to the last minute, which is making negotiations with him very difficult… Harry’s camp made clear that the idea that he would just attend the Coronation and behave himself but then be stripped of his titles was a total non-starter.”
The source added that Prince Harry does not like being portrayed as a "problem prince'- at the bottom of the food chain, which also includes his disgraced uncle Prince Andrew. However, Harry has let it be known that he would consider a reconciliation if his family apologized to him.
