Just days after Donald Trump was succeeded by former Vice President Joe Biden as the President of the United States, it appears that he is already falling out of favor with the few celebrities who appeared to be open to working with him. While Trump was president, reality star Kim Kardashian had famously appealed to him while she advocated for the commutation of the life sentences of Alice Marie Johnson and Chris Young. Johnson's sentence was commuted in 2018, and since then, Kardashian advocated for the release of Chris Young. In the last hours of his presidency, Young was one of 100+ people Trump pardoned. Now, in her post of gratitude, it appears that the reality star has snubbed the former president.

In September 2018, Kardashian started campaigning for the release of Young. She had said of his case, "It's so unfair. He's 30 years old. He's been in for almost 10 years. I was on the phone with the judge that sentenced him to life, who resigned because he had never been on the side of having to do something so unfair, and now he is fighting [alongside] us to get [Young] out."

Young was first arrested at a gas station in Clarksville, Tennesse in December 2000 and had been in prison ever since. He was caught talking to Robert Porter, a drug dealer while they were standing next to the latter's car which had eight ounces of cocaine and six ounces of crack. He was found guilty of conspiracy with intent to possess and distribute 500 grams of cocaine and 280 grams of crack, intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a high school, and knowingly possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The judge did not have much of a choice in the sentencing because of his earlier convictions and gave him life in prison.

The judge in the case, Kevin Sharp, shorty after giving Young a life sentence because of the "three strikes" rule left the bench because he disagreed with his own decision. Judge Sharp was one of the many people Kardashian thanked on social media.

In a story posted to her Instagram profile, Kardashian wrote, "Chris Young is FREE after more than a decade behind bars. Wow My heart is so full! It brings tears to my eyes to see Judge Sharp welcome him home. He was forced to sentence him to a life sentence based on mandatory minimums and and [sic] ended up resigning due to these injustices."

She continued, "Judge Sharp and I went to the White House a few years ago asking for clemency for @thechrisyoung_2021 He's so deserving and so smart and I can't wait to see all he accomplishes in this life! I worked on this case with @msbkb [Young's attorney Brittany K. Barnett] for years so this victory is so sweet!!! Thank you @alicemariefree @jessicajackson [REFORM Alliance's Chief Analytics Officer] & Judge Sharp for fighting so hard for Chris and never giving up!!!"

TMZ reported that Kardashian didn’t agree with Trump’s politics but knew she needed him to further her cause.
