Kim Kardashian has come under fire for 'lying' about destroying Marilyn Monroe's famous “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress after she wore it to the Met Gala 2022. In an interview on 'The Today Show,' that aired on Tuesday, June 21, Kim, 41, talked about rumors of ruining the Marilyn Monroe's iconic gown and the effort she put in to fit into the dress at the prestigious event.

When asked by the host Hoda Kotb if the reports of her wrecking the $5 million outfit were true, 'The Kardashian' star firmly said: "No. No, and I mean Ripley's, we worked together so well, there was handlers and gloves that put it on me."

Further, Kim stunned viewers of the show by saying she had lost more weight as worries over her emaciated appearance grew. In order to fit into the legendary Marilyn Monroe outfit in May, the reality star previously admitted to shedding 16 pounds in three weeks. She revealed that she had continued her weight loss journey and was now leading a "healthier" lifestyle.

Kim highlighted the extreme measures she went to in order to wear the skin-tight dress, including modifying her svelte physique, after anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb exclaimed over her amazing appearance at the gala. "I looked at it like a role, and I really wanted to wear this dress... It was really important to me," she revealed how much weight she had lost. However, the mother of four said that the "role" had changed her life and that she had sustained her diet even after leaving the red carpet.

"It actually taught me a lot about my lifestyle and my health, and since then, afterward, I continued to eat really healthy. I mean, I'm down 21 pounds now," Kim admitted. Despite her substantial weight loss, Kim claimed that she had no desire to lose any additional weight, even though she now views her eating habits more positively.

Meanwhile, a section of social media users seems to be unfazed by her weight drop as they slam the star for 'lying' about tampering with the garment, which was first worn in 1962. The Ripley's has, however, defended the TV personality, dispelling claims that she "destroyed" the priceless artifact.

One fan tweeted, "Why dont you have the expert on that actually knows the dress and how it was damaged? its the trumpism lie….she said she didn’t damage it so she must be telling the truth. Congrats on being the PR mouthpiece she needed and to sell her product… #disappointed"

Another fan wrote, "I can’t believe this morning show is so bad this was like the number one morning show I mean who the hell wanna see Kim Kardashian she lie everything come out of her mouth is a lie," while one fan added about her weight loss and wrote, "She did mess up the dress according to experts on clothing. What role? She didn't ever fit the theme of the Gala. Her weight loss isn't healthy, she looks sick now, just look at how taut the skin looks on her face, that's not surgery. Her arms look stick thin etc."
