'Horrendous movie with terrible writing': Kevin Hart's 'corny' Netflix film 'Lift' leaves viewers divided

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As part of the exclusive partnership with Netflix for feature films, Kevin Hart's latest release 'Lift' began streaming on the OTT giant on January 12, 2024.

The heist comedy film is directed by F Gary Gray and features Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ursula Corbero, Billy Magnussen, and Jacob Batalon as the supporting cast.

Netflix's 'Lift' gets mixed reviews from fans

Kevin Hart plays a thief and a conman in 'Lift'. The actor known for his entertainment factor is seen getting into occasional action.

The Netflix users, however, have mixed feelings about the film. Disappointed by Hart's casting, an X user wrote, "We all know he didn't deserve to play that role, it just didn't sit well ... Just trash" while someone unapologetically tweeted, "Movie is terrible." Another said, "It looks like a typical corny heist movie. Fast n furious style Italian job. Pass."



 



 



 

One netizen tweeted, "This movie was horrendous with terrible writing and it was also extremely unrealistic."



 

However, the film is also getting love on social media. A fan wrote, "Lift is officially my all time favorite @KevinHart4real movie. He plays the “boss” role just as badass in the movie as he does in real life." One even said, "Man I absolutely LOVE this movie. Never seen you in this role before Kevin. Intriguing. Action. That “catch me if you can” love/ comedy. Excellent job man. Definitely need to see you in more roles like this. You killed this man!"

Overwhelmed by the positive reaction, Kevin Hart took to his official X account and tweeted, "Loving the energy and feedback from you guys …..I’m glad y’all are loving the movie. 'Lift' follows the story of a gang of thieves who are approached by Interpol to carry out a heist. The ultimate agenda of Interpol is to capture banker and terrorist mastermind Lars Jorgenson.

Kevin Hart as Cyrus Whitaker, gathers his team to steal gold worth $500 million from a plane, 40,000 feet in the air.
