Kenny Rogers found true love with 5th wife Wanda Millers, 28 years younger, in a marriage of over 2 decades
Kenny Rogers, the American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and entrepreneur passed away on March 19, 2020, leaving us all with another loss of a legend. For over six decades (1957 -2017), the iconic country musician has made us swoon over his voice and creations through number of amazing classic country songs, including 'The Gambler', 'Lady', 'She Believes in Me', and 'Through the Years', among many more. And he continues to live on through his music and the legacy that he leaves behind.
However, that’s not all about Rogers that will remain immortal. The love story of him and his fifth wife, Wanda Miller, is yet another chapter of his life that will stay with the world, while we rue his death.
Kenny Rogers and Wanda Miller were a couple that you only hear in books or see in movies. While Rogers had previously married four times and had children from all his ex-wives, his relationship with Miller was special, even legendary.
The story goes that the two met by chance, and dated for five years. Miller was working as a hostess at a hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, where Rogers happened to visit. As fairytale-like as it may sound, the two met, sparks flew, and needless to say, they fell in love. Their partnership finally led to a marriage that would last nearly three decades! Wanda Miller Rogers has been with Kenny Rogers for more than 20 years.
But like all love stories, the couple also had their roadblocks and one of the biggest ones was seeking approval from Miller’s parents. Wanda Miller’s parents were not very happy that their daughter was dating a man 28 years older than her. In a candid media interview, Kenny Rogers once spoke about how he fell out with his wife’s parents.
"Her parents are two years younger than me. They called me when we started dating and said, 'We want you to know we didn't appreciate what you're doing with our daughter,' and I said, 'First of all I don't blame you. I don't think I would either but I will make you a promise. I will never lie to her and I will never lie to you.'"
However, things eased out eventually and Miller and Rogers tied the knot on June 1, 1997, at his private ranch, in Athens, Georgia. And that was the start of what became a “wonderful life” as people call it. They later became proud parents of identical twin boys.
Time and again, both Wanda Miller and Kenny Rogers have openly shared their love for each other. With Instagram becoming a rage, Miller shared her memories with the legendary musician, on special occasions like their wedding anniversary.
Today, as we all grieve his loss, we cannot but try to hold onto this beautiful love story of Kenny and Wanda, which will stay on with us forever. Kenny Rogers passed away at a hospice, due to natural causes and left behind his wife, and two sons.
