'Hella messed up': Kendall Jenner slammed for sexualizing 'Toy Story' cowgirl Jessie for Halloween look
With Halloween in full swing, celebs have taken to social media to share their looks, showcasing some pretty creative takes on costumes. Taking inspiration from movies for their looks is no new thing, but little did Kendall Jenner expect that she would face a backlash for her 'Toy Story'-inspired look.
The 25-year-old model took to Instagram to share several images of her costume. Dressed as Jessie the cowgirl, Jenner turned up the sex appeal quotient on the "rough-and tumble" cowgirl toy character loved by children. While many praised her for her look, there were others who criticized her for "ruining" the children's movie.

Sharing a snap of her outfit edited into a character poster for the movie, Jenner wrote in the captions, "Well aren’t you just the sweetest space toy." While several celebs as well as fans flooded the comments with praise, some of her followers were not too pleased. "It's a kids movie WHY?!?" questioned one person, while another remarked, "Oh now we’re sexualizing Kids' animations Ayy?" Many of them even said that the model's Halloween look "ruined" their childhood. "Toy story gotta be 18+ now😂," joked another, referring to the sexed-up portrayal of the children's animated character, with someone else similarly quipping, "This toy isn't meant for kids. 😂😂 #parentaladvisory"
To nail the look of the character, Jenner donned a pair of cow print chaps, pairing them with dark-wash denim hot pants that rode high and exposed quite a bit of skin. She also wore a yellow-and-white cropped shirt instead of the regular shirt worn by Jessie. Completing the look, she added the cowgirl's trademark hat and a copper wig plaited in two. In another post, the 26-year-old shared a montage of pictures that showed her outfit with a slight modification. In them, she seemed to have gotten rid of her copper wig, instead tying her own dark hair in two braids. She also swapped the cropped shirt with a Bardot ultra-cropped top in the same yellow-and-white color.
People weren't too happy with Jenner showing so much skin in an outfit 'inspired' by an animated movie aimed at children. "Yay sexualising a children's character, great work 👏🏼 #sarcasmunlocked," read a comment. The same sentiment was echoed by another, "This is ridiculous. It's Halloween, and you're just sexualizing a child's character." One user also described her portrayal as "hella messed up." "Oh so we sexualize kids toys now?" questioned another.
