A rep for R&B singer confirms she is 'recovering at undisclosed location' from Covid-19, nearly a month after last being heard from

With the Gabby Petito case putting the spotlight on missing people, it has now come to everyone's attention that singer Kelly Price is missing. She was last seen in late August when she was discharged from a Georgia hospital after being diagnosed with Covid-19. Her family has not heard from her for weeks now, but the case has only made the news on September 24. In a shocking twist, a rep for Price confirmed just hours later that the singer was not missing, but recovering from Covid at an "undisclosed location". 

Another missing person case that hardly made the headlines was Jelani Day who was identified on September 23, 19 days after his body was recovered from the Illinois River. British actress Tanya Fear was reported missing from her Los Angeles home on Sept 9 and has still not been found. Also among the many missing people is Deidre Reid, a South Carolina mother-of-three who was last seen on September 3.

The case of Price first came to social media's attention thanks to TMZ, who broke the story of her disappearance. She's now listed as missing with the National Crime Information Center, with an active investigation to find her being led by Cobb County officials. As with the case of Petito, all eyes are on Price's boyfriend, who reportedly sparked the missing person report with his suspicious behavior.

Where was Kelly Price?

The R&B singer was admitted to the hospital in early August after her Covid-19 symptoms worsened. She also ended up in the ICU, after her condition deteriorated. During this time, she was visited several times by her children. About three weeks later, her children were informed Price was being discharged even though she was not fully healthy. That was the last Price's family heard about, or from her. 

Since her discharge, Price reportedly went to stay with her boyfriend, who refused to let friends and family see her. The constant rebuffing by Price's boyfriend led the family to alert the authorities. On September 18, a welfare check was conducted at the boyfriend's residence, leading authorities to find Price missing. No evidence of foul play could be seen at the residence, but police still spoke to the boyfriend as a matter of formality. It's unclear what he said. 

An active investigation is now underway and that's all we know for now. Beyond TMZ's report, there is little information about Price's case. Police have not issued a formal statement on the case. Hours after TMZ first broke the story, Bossip reported that she was "not missing and is safe at home." The site claimed to have heard from a close relative who spoke to Price. Shortly afterward, Price’s rep, Monica Ewing told The Grio that Price was not missing, but recovering "at an undisclosed location". Ewing did not say whether Price's family was informed of the update.

"How has Thee Kelly Price been missing for more than a month and the news is just now coming out?" asked one user. Another tweeted, "SINCE AUGUST !!!!!!! How the hell has KELLY PRICE been missing for a month and it’s just now being discussed ….. huh ???" One user said, "I need y’all to give Kelly Price the same energy we gave Gabby Petito!"

"This kelly price story is so f-----g bizarre. i hope she's okay," one person commented. Another tweeted, "Y’all better find Kelly Price, it’s been a long week, and I don’t have the patience for this. How tf has she been missing for a month and we are just now finding out ?!?…" One person declared, "I can’t deal with Kelly Price being missing my heart is so heavy! She literally in top listened to artist I love her!"

We could not independently confirm the update that Price was ok. The Grio and Bossip were the only two sites to report on the update. When contacted, the Cobb County PD confirmed she was reported missing, but would not say anything else. "No other information is available at this time," they told Bossip.
