Katy Perry admits making 'huge mistake' when she passed up chance of working with Billie Eilish
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katy Perry recently confessed that she had the chance to collaborate with Billie Eilish early on in her career, but passed on it. The 38-year-old singer opened up about one of the biggest mistakes she's made in her career on Friday, January 27, during a Q&A session at a private event for Los Angeles radio station KIIS-FM.
The 'California Gurls' singer admitted that she still has regrets about not working with the then-unknown Billie on 'Ocean Eyes' which ended up becoming her debut hit. "[Someone] sent me an email one time that was, 'Hey, check out this new artist. I'd really like us to work with her because she was working with me for Unsub [Records]," Katy recalled. "It was a song called 'Ocean Eyes,' and it was just a blonde girl, and I was like, 'Meh, boring.'" But little did she know, both the song and Billie would later go on to be huge hits. "Big mistake. Huge mistake," she admitted.

When Katy joked, she didn't realize that a video of the revelation would end up on TikTok. "Don't let this hit the internet," she joked, realizing she made a mistake given the success Billie has gone on to experience in the world.
'Ocean Eyes' released way back in 2016. Since then, Billie has won numerous Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Oscar for her song 'No Time To Die' from the thriller of the same name, which served as Daniel Craig's final performance as James Bond.
Katy later went on to congratulate Billie when the pair met at Coachella in 2019. "Congrats, I'm so proud of you," she told Billie in footage shared in the 2021 documentary 'Billie Eilish: The World's A Little Blurry'. "I wanted to say, this is going to be wild for 10 years. If you ever wanna talk… 'cause it's a weird ride."
'Live at the O2', a concert by Billie, debuted on Friday, January 27, and is in theaters all around the US. Recently, the 'Bad Guy' hitmaker secretly attended a screening and posted a snap of her feet on her Instagram story as she relaxed in a recliner chair and watched the movie.
