MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Comedian-actress Kathy Griffin, 62, has revealed that she is about to go under the knife to save her unique voice, which she seems to have lost when her oncologist removed half of her left lung in August 2021 to treat her for cancer. The surgery for vocal cords is said to be a 20-minute procedure.

Griffin was diagnosed with stage one cancer more than a year ago and on November 2021, she announced that she was cancer-free on 'The Jimmy Kimmel Show'. In a recent video posted on her Instagram, Griffin revealed that she would do "anything to get my voice back," as she gave her fans the rundown about how her medical treatments have been progressing.

In the video, she said, “Good morning. Yes, I’m feeling sorry for myself and I’ll tell you why. ‘Because I’m on my way to the hospital again, because I have to go into general to get another procedure on my vocal cords.” She then went on to add, “So the good news is I get to go home today. But the last time I got this done, it hurt for like seven days. But I’m just being a baby.”

She then goes on to say, “But I want to get my voice back, you know I’ll do anything.” Then she funnily addresses the reactions she hopes to receive through the video, “Also, I wanted to tell you guys, I want your pity. Right, you know in movies, when they’re like, ‘I don’t want your pity, don’t feel sorry for me!’ Hell yeah, I’ll take it I’ll take your pity. I’ll take your feelings of sorry. I love it. Bring it!” She received overwhelming support from many, including big names such as Carnie Wilson, Tatum O’Neal, Mo Collins and Alexandra Billings.

This announcement comes more than a year after she had half her lung removed as part of her cancer treatment- something both her siblings Gary and Joyce died of, Daily Mail reported. Griffin had spoken about her voice on the Jimmy Kimmel live show. "I think it'll get back to normal but I'm not sure. I'm still working on it," Griffin told Kimmel, 54, who quipped that she may sound funnier with the changes. "I am funnier, because I think I sound non-threatening and demure. That's my new angle," she added.
