NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kathleen Turner has acknowledged that there was never a chance for her and Michael Douglas to fall in love. The actress, who co-starred with Douglas in the big-budget 1984 film 'Romancing The Stone', claims that the actor might have viewed her as a rival and that there might have been no happy ending as they both would have killed each other.

Turner who was feeling romantic as the film was set in the jungle was finally restrained by the sudden presence of Douglas' wife Diandra Luker on the set of the movie. Their body language made it clear that she and her wife were still legally wed.

'He would never, ever have supported having another star'

"Look, I love the man, but he is old-fashioned," the 68-year-old star told Stellar Magzine. Giving credit to Doglas's wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 'The Hunting' star who Doglas married in 2000, Turner said, "I give Catherine all the credit in the world. She has done a great job with him."

Turner further talked about his ex-wife Diandra Luker, actor and producer who started in films like 'American Masters' who Micheal divorced later. Turner expressed that  "First of all he (Micheal) would never, ever have supported having another star, at that point, in his life. And that would never have worked."

'I had no intention of being second to anybody'

Furthermore, Turner never wanted to be a second option to anyone as she told the publication, "I had no intention of being second to anybody, certainly not a man." Turner previously as per the Daily Mail acknowledged that "the sexual attraction was all too real" and that "few, including Turner, did not believe their on-set passion would lead to an affair." This is because of the cameras.

"The chemistry was there and Michael and I were both terrible flirts. I thought Michael was separated. We were in the jungle and I was feeling very romantic toward him," Turner, the 'Peggy Sue Got Married' star said. However as she felt "it was going to happen", she "suddenly" one day walked on set to find Micheals,'s wife. Turner was alerted by Douglas's wife Diandra's appearance that she and her husband were still legally wed.

'We would have killed each other. It would have been dreadful'

"She sat next to him and made that very clear to me," Turner recalled before adding, "And that was that. You don't mess with another woman's husband." Turner now believes that dating Douglas, who would later divorce Diandra and wed Catherine Zeta-Jones, "would have been a complete disaster" because he is ten years older and hails from an all-male family.

"He would have tried to squelch me. We would have killed each other. It would have been dreadful. There would have been no happy ending." Zeta-Jones must get "really sick of people saying how much chemistry he and I had,", said Turner.
