'Copycat Couple': Kate and William accused of recreating Meghan and Harry's iconic photo
Prince William and Kate Middleton concluded their eight-day royal tour of the Caribbean on Saturday, March 26. The couple visited Belize, Jamaica, and the Bahamas as part of the tour. On Friday, when the royal couple arrived at Sybil Strachan Primary School in Nassau, it started raining. Kate stepped out of the car wearing a pale green dress by Self Portrait and jewellery by Bahamian designer Nadia Irena and was captured by the photographers.
One image shows the Duchess smiling as she walks beneath her umbrella. Internet users were quick to call out Kate for "copying" her sister-in-law Meghan Markle. As per the fans, Kate and William's images bear a strong resemblance to the pictures of Prince Harry and Meghan from their farewell tour in March 2020. In those pictures, Meghan and Harry stood arm-in-arm beneath an umbrella while rain poured heavily.

One tweet read, "LOOK at Kate trying to recreate Meghan & Harry's rain moment by wearing a similar shade dress and smiling in the rain! All that's missing is [skull emoji]! [camera emoji] [umbrella emoji]." Another said, "No matter how much Kate tries to copy Meghan she always fails. Meghan picture in the rain with Harry is one of the most iconic photos I have seen."

A third commented, "This is such a sad but funny attempt at recreating Meghanβs iconic photo in the rain shot."

While one user wrote, "Who they wanted to be Vs who they are," another said, "Are the Lamebridges trying to recreate that ICONIC, ICONIC Harry and Meghan's romantic picture in the rain?" A third replied, "They definitely don't communicate behind closed doors. Wtf are these outfits? They look like the Cinderella stepsisters trying to out-do each other in hideous clashing clothes."

Interestingly, the photographer of the image is the same as the one who clicked Meghan and Harry's picture in the rain. Talking about the image, photographer Samir Hussein said, "Arriving at the engagement, my hopes were not high. It was pouring down with rain, which can be very tricky when shooting flash photography and also meant Harry and Meghan would be under an umbrella, which usually means it's hard to get clean photos of the couple. Little did I know these elements would come together so spectacularly to produce such a satisfying image of the couple." He further added, "It's a one in a million when all the elements you could wish for as a photographer come together β perfect timing, great lighting, strong symbolism, and amazing subjects make this a photo I am extremely proud of."
