Meghan Markle and Kate have not spoken since Megxit, says source: 'But Meghan has never been happier'
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have reportedly not spoken since Megxit. But their strained relationship is not something new — a source has revealed that the duchesses have barely spoken in the last few months.
However, while Kate is still “coming to terms with the reality” of the Sussexes’ choice, Meghan has never been happier, an Us Weekly report claimed.
“Meghan feels free. She has never been happier. She’s happy to be out of London,” a source told the publication. “She was surprised at how quickly everything happened.”
Early this month, Meghan and Prince Harry took everyone by surprise when they announced their plans to take a step back from their duties as senior members of the royal family.
"After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution." Harry and Meghan had shared on Instagram.
"We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment," they had added.
Following their exit, the Queen subsequently called a family meeting with Prince Charles and his sons William and Harry. The 93-year-old monarch is "urging" the brothers "to put on a united front", according to a third source.
"When Harry was feeling low or had problems, Willam was always there for him, as was Kate," the source added. "Kate's incredibly hurt too. She acted as a mentor to Harry before Meghan came into the picture and hates seeing her husband so upset."
The Duchesses were last seen together in public in July 2019 with their kids at Harry and William's polo match. Sources had previously revealed that the two women have a complicated relationship since they are "from two totally different worlds".
"Another insider had revealed that Meghan "feels that there is standard set very high by" Kate. [They] will never be best friends. It's discouraged that the British public holds her up to that."
"Meghan has this sense of isolation being in the UK, subject to cruel British media. Her hands are tied and she isn't allowed to defend herself. It has been very difficult," the source added.
