A mother has accused another woman of being a "Karen" for aggressively scolding her daughter for feeding geese in a park. The incident reportedly happened in the Australian city of Centennial Park and the Karen also allegedly called police because she “feared for her life,” as claimed by the mother.

The girl’s mother took to Facebook to share the episode. She warned other families in the Bondi Local Loop Facebook page, which is a private group, and shared a photo of the woman who allegedly brought tears to her daughter’s eyes. The mother wrote, “If you are in Centennial Park with your children, watch out for this woman.”

She went on to say, “My daughter was feeding some geese this morning with some seeded bread and this woman left my daughter in tears. She was verbally aggressive and abusive. I don't even want to repeat what she was saying to her,” before adding, “She then took photos of us, supposedly called the police saying she was fearing for her life after I started telling her off. What started out as a really nice morning turned into a horrible experience.”

The mother’s Facebook post attracted a lot of attention online with many people commenting on it. A user wrote, “She's got the Karen starter pack happening right there.” The second user said, “God what a lunatic,” and the third one added: “A quick headbutt usually sorts out people like that.”

However, there were some people who called out Karen’s aggressive behavior but also pointed out that it’s harmful to feed bread to geese and ducks.

One such person commented, “They (children) shouldn't be feeding the ducks... especially bread, it's not allowed and very bad for their health.” Another one wrote, “I am sorry this happened to you but bread should never be fed to these beautiful angels because it is the worst kind of food for them. There are usually signs around.”

According to the Wildlife Center of Virginia, “Heading to the park to feed the ducks is a very old and popular family pastime; it’s a fun, free activity and a great way for parents and children to see and appreciate wildlife and nature. What many people don't realize is that bread, rolls, chips, and other human ‘snack food’ items do not offer the proper nutrition that ducks and geese need -- and that the act of feeding a diet heavy in breads and other empty carbohydrates can lead to severe health consequences and a variety of other problems.”

It added that food items like bread, corn crackers, and popcorn provided to waterfowl in public parks “are typically low in protein and essential nutrients and minerals (such as calcium and phosphorus). While a single feeding of these ‘junk foods’ may not harm waterfowl, it adds up! If everyone visiting a park “only” gives a few pieces of bread or crackers to ducks and geese, it quickly becomes the bulk of what wild waterfowl consume, and results in a variety of nutritional disorders.”
