Viral video: Hula hoop champion Getti Kehayova harassed by Karen over 'obscene' clothes
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: A world hula hoop champion has shared her unpleasant experience with an unknown woman in a park that shook her to the core. Getti Kehayova alleged that a "Karen" approached her angrily when she was practicing and was hanging upside down from a set of monkey bars and hula hooping. During the practice, her top slid down and the bottom of her white sports bra and stomach showed - which apparently triggered the woman.
Kehayova, who is the Guinness World Records holder for the largest hula hoop spun, said the woman came towards her and started haranguing her over her “obscene” dress. She also accused Kehayova of being “half naked”. A witness recorded the encounter, which Kehayova shared on TikTok. At the time, the world champion was wearing a white tank top and running shorts. However, during practice, it slipped down and the Karen, who was pushing her child in a stroller at the time, started yelling. She apparently screamed, “Everybody around here is seeing this! You're half naked right there. This is a place where kids play.”

But when Kehayova asked the woman to back off as she was hula hooping by saying: “Watch yourself. I'm trying to film”, the woman did not move and commented, “This is a place for family. You can't be half naked up there.” She also asked Kehayova’s spouse Michael, “Are you okay with this?” Neither Kehayova nor her husband responded to her rant, but when she saw their son capturing her hula hooping, she went on to say: “This is where kids play, this is a place for families. That is so obscene,” before adding: “'I can’t believe you’re doing this in our neighborhood park with almost no clothing. That is totally revealing.”
Karen did not stop there as she accused Kehayova and her husband of waking up her daughter and also took the hula hoop from Kehayova and threw it on the ground. The person who was recording the scene then intervened but Karen yelled at him and asked him to not get involved since it was none of his business. The woman also screamed at Kehayova’s son and when she and Michael asked her to leave, she said, “You people are off the charts.”
But Karen again insisted that Kehayova was wrong and asked for an explanation for why she was wearing “'revealing clothing”. The mother then slammed her by saying, “You're wearing revealing clothing yourself.” Karen was reportedly in a cardigan over a sleeveless V-neck top and a skirt. But the woman added: “Find somewhere else to bare your belly.”
Kehayova and Michael then left the scene with their son instead of arguing further. Later on August 29, she posted the video of the encounter on TikTok and claimed that she’s “still shaken” by the incident.
As per reports, the video has garnered 2.4 million views and over 14,000 people commented on it. A viewer asked, “Has she never been to a public swimming pool?!” The second one remarked, “I could never imagine thinking someone's stomach is more harmful to a child than her behavior and language.” A person commented, “This cannot be real,” to which Kehayova replied that it was “no joke”.
