LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Julia Wandelt, a Polish woman, who believes she might be the missing Madeleine McCann, made a moving plea to her father, saying she believes he shunned her because he is "scared." The 21-year-old Wandelt, also known as Julia Wendell/Faustyna, recently moved to the US after claiming that she might be the toddler, who went missing during a family holiday in Portugal in 2007

In a tell-all interview, Wandelt revealed that her suspicions about being Madeleine were strengthened after she questioned her father about their biological relationship in June 2022. She claimed that he initially said "yes, of course" when she inquired about his paternity but as the conversation continued he looked to retract and assured her that he would always love her either way. Wandelt described the man who raised her as "caring," adding there were some embedded fears that repelled him from supporting her search for the truth about her true identity.

'I have to fight with my past'

"I don't know if you're watching this … but I always knew that you're a good person … I'm almost sure that you're scared, which is the reason you're not talking to me now but you're the only person that didn't block me and you're still reading my messages," Wandelt told her father during an interview with Radar Online. She encouraged her father to not be scared, saying, “You always said to me that I'm a tiger and I have to fight with people who bullied me in school. I have to fight with my past … You taught me this. You can be this tiger too."

Wandelt added, "Even if you make a little fault in my past, you're a tiger because you said I'm a tiger." She continued, "I believe that you love me and please help me because I know that you want to help me and for my younger siblings, I love you and I miss you, and I'm still your sister." Wandelt further expressed she has hoped that her tense relationship with her father would improve. "He always cried when I talked about the past and I saw that he wants to talk with me, but I saw too that he can't. He tried to be careful what he was saying. It looked like this," she said.

'We can't be quiet'

Wandelt hinted that her father would be scared of the reaction of her mother and other family members as well as a potential sex trafficking network that might seek revenge. As her battle for truth continues, the Polish woman delivered a word of encouragement to others who have experienced abuse or mistreatment in past. "In this world, still exist good people," she said.

Wandelt added, "You can say no if you feel not safe. Run away. Go to the police. Go to school. Go to your parents. We have the right to feel safe, we can't be quiet." Wandelt and Dr Fia Johansson, a private investigator, who is taking care of her case, are currently waiting for DNA results, which will bring them one step closer to finding out about her past and upbringing.
