Doppelganger or deepfake? Video of Elon Musk's Chinese lookalike goes viral
A man in China has gone viral for his uncanny resemblance to American billionaire Elon Musk. A video of the man on Douyin, a TikTok like app based in China, grabbed attention when many pointed out how similar he looked to the Tesla founder. In the video, the Musk lookalike is seen dressed in a bulky black jacket, and standing outside his car. He smiles and poses for the camera. His identity is not known yet; it's also not known if it's a deepfake video.

The resemblance between Musk, the billionaire founder of PayPal, Tesla, and SpaceX, and the unnamed person is uncanny, to say the least. This video has taken the internet and netizens by a storm! The comment section under the video was flooded by people who noticed the eerie similarity too.
Someone called the doppelganger 'Yi Long Musk' because he looks Asian. With over 75,000 views on Douyin and 248 comments, 700 likes, and over 1k shares, this video has brought out not just opinions but concerns of several netizens.
In the comments, someone spoke about the possibility of this being a deepfake.
What is deepfake?
Deepfake is a technology that has raised alarm bells all around as it can morph the face of a person onto another person's body in a such a manner that it will not look processed, fake, or artificial.
Although no one (other than those who recorded and posted the video) can determine whether the video is real or fake, Elon must be cautious now. If this unnamed person is real and he does look like Musk, the Tesla founder may want to update his passwords and locks that will unlock with a face ID.
Elon's Achievements
In December 2021, Elon was named as the Person of the Year by TIME Magazine as a way to honor all the technological advancements he has offered to us this year. The article about Musk in the magazine read, "For creating solutions to an existential crisis, for embodying the possibilities and the perils of the age of tech titans, for driving society's most daring and disruptive transformations, Elon Musk is TIME's 2021 Person of the Year."
The magazine added: "We don't yet know how fully Tesla, SpaceX and the ventures Musk has yet to think up will change our lives. At 50, he has plenty of time to write the future, his own and ours. Like it or not, we are now in Musk's world."
