Jonathan Majors may be cleared off charges over 'video evidence' after arrest for GF's alleged assault
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Attorney for Jonathan Majors asserts that the actor is the victim of a domestic dispute for which he was arrested. The lawyer claims that there is video proof clearing him of assaulting his girlfriend.
Majors' lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said in a statement on Sunday March 26 that his client is "completely innocent" and "probably the victim of an alteration with a woman he knows," DailyMail reports. Chaudhry believes that the claims against the Marvel star will be dropped in support of her proposition that video evidence clears the actor of beating his girlfriend and that the woman has now altered her story. Majors, 33, was arrested on assault charges on the morning of Saturday, March 26 after reportedly beating his girlfriend inside a car. He was released on his own recognizance and will likely appear in Manhattan court in May.

'We expect these charges to be dropped soon'
Chaudhry said that her team is "quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently," according to DailyMail. Additionally, she stated that her team had video evidence from the car where the alleged assault took place, witness accounts from the driver and others who witnessed and heard the alleged altercation.
Chaudhry revealed the most important evidence as "two written statements from the woman recanting the allegations." She stated, "All the evidence proves that Mr Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever," and added that "this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday."
Chaudhry stated, "The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon." She is now slated to provide the District Attorney with all of the evidence.
The District Attorney has already granted the accused victim's request for a limited court-ordered protection. A representative for Majors said he "has done nothing wrong" and that "we look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up," according to TMZ.
'She lied. Send her to jail'
Many people on Twitter have since reacted to the attorney's statements with one person writing, "Lock her up! Y'all was so quick to believe that woman without having all the facts. Andddd we wanna see the video." Another person wrote, "Jonathan Majors Attorney’s next course of action should be preparing to sue the NYPD for not properly investigating this situation before dragging his likeness and reputation through the mud!" A third person wrote, "Emotional women will be so quick to try to ruin a guy's life after all the work he's done... proud of you King." "She lied. Send her to jail," wrote another user. "Everyone's like 'see this is why you don't believe every claim you read' meanwhile they're believing the lawyers on the content of the video. Still reserve judgement either way guys, wait til evidence (the video) is either public or shown in court," one person wrote.
