Over 2,000 fans of Johnny Depp and his lawyer have signed a petition to replace Amber Heard in the upcoming 'Aquaman' sequel with the actor's star lawyer, Camille Vasquez. The petition had 2,315 signatories as of publication time on Wednesday, June 1, reports Newsweek.

"Although Amber is a 'credible' actor and has actually demonstrated it on many occasions, not just in films or 'perhaps' on the stand," states the Change.org petition which is now no longer visible on the site as the site is undergoing an update. "If Camille is half the actor she is as a lawyer this will be an absolute blockbuster of a film." Another campaign to remove Heard from the Aquaman sequel has gathered nearly 4.5 million signatures. The petition is titled "Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2."

"Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuit, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard," according to the earlier petition which now has 4.5 million signatories. "As Amber Heard is a known and proven domestic abuser, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project. They must not ignore the suffering of Heard's victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser."

However, it is to be understood that despite the fans demanding Heard's departure, Warner Bros, for the time being, has no plans to replace the actress. Heard co-starred with Jason Momoa in the first Aquaman film. Following the continued uproar in response to her op-ed and the trial, Heard spoke about her involvement in the Aquaman sequel during the trial, saying that she "fought really hard to stay in the movie."

"I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it," Heard explained. "That depicted my character and another character—without giving any spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another. They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch."

However, fans asking for Vasquez is although surprising but not unexpected at all. After all, in the eyes of Depp's fans, Vasquez is the star lawyer who brought their hero justice. In the days during the trial, Vasquez even sparked dating rumors with Depp as people watched her interaction with her famous client in the courtroom - from the hugs, smiles and hand-holding - fans bought it all. Now after the verdict was announced they are even more convinced that Vasquez is the 'wonder woman' who brought the jury to this result.

This is not the first time that Depp's fans have expressed their desire for Warner to oust Heard from the film. Back in 2020, a petition emerged demanding that Warner take the same measures with the actress as it imposed on Depp, whom it removed from 'Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,' the third installment of the Harry Potter prequel saga where he brought to life the villainous Grindelwald.

The jury in the ongoing trial between Heard and Depp reached a decision on Wednesday, June 1. Depp was granted $15 million in total damages by the jury, with $5 million in punitive damages and $10 million in compensatory damages. In addition, Heard was granted $2 million in compensatory damages.
