Johnny Depp fans say pic showing Amber Heard and Raquel Pennington days after alleged assault could break case

Twitter users dug up an image from May 27, 2016, where a bruise is visible on Amber Heard's face but in the image from May 28, 2016, there is no bruise on the actress' face

The controversial defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard saw testimonies from Whitney Heard Henriquez, and a few friends of the 36-year-old actress on Tuesday, May 18. Raquel "Rocky" Pennington, Heard's best friend, was among the people who testified in court. Heard's legal team played a video deposition of her that was recorded in January 2022.

Pennington described the supposed injuries she saw on Heard's face and head, and the property damage that is alleged to have been caused by Depp on May 21, 2016. She said that she heard Depp yelling inside, though she doesn't remember what he was saying. Apart from Pennington, a disposition of Heard's friend iO Tillett Wright was also presented during the defamation trial.

Keen users on the Internet dug out photographic evidence that showed Heard with Pennington and another friend. One image is from May 27, 2016, when she filed for a restraining order and a bruise is visible on her face. The other image is from May 28, 2016, aka the next day, where no bruise is visible and Heard is spotted laughing with her friends. Netizens feel this will cause a huge dent in the stories spun by Heard and her legal team.

One tweet read, "Don't forget two of Amber Heard's witnesses, Raquel Pennington and Josh Drew were with her, May 27th 2016 where she appeared with a bruise on her face obtaining a restraining order. The next day, 28th May 2016 they were laughing with Amber as she was seen with zero no brusing." Another said, "During Rocky Raquel Pennington's testimony, she's 'crying' re pics of Amber's 'injuries'--but she & Amber were gleeful leaving Amber's attorney's office day after TRO court appearance."

A third tweet said, "May 27th 2016, Amber appeared with a visible bruise on her face obtaining a restraining order against Depp stating he was abusing her. 28th May 2016, Amber appeared fresh-faced, no bruise in sight, laughing with her friends Raquel Pennington & Josh Drew." A fourth user wrote, "Amber Heard went to get the TRO on May 27, 2016, with 'injuries' on her face. After it, the same day, Amber Heard went to drink with her friend, Raquel Pennington, without injuries at all. Her make-up has some healing powers."

Depp sued Heard for $50 million over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed written by the 36-year-old actress in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. As per Depp's lawsuit, "The op-ed depended on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her." Heard then countersued the 58-year-old actor for $100 million.
