Johnny Depp might have won the defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard but it looks like the legal battles between the two are far from over. A day after Amber Heard filed an Appeal of Verdict in the court, Johnny Depp has responded to the same as his spokesperson mentioned they were "confident" the verdict will be upheld.

Amber Heard was asked to pay $2 million in damages and the actress later claimed that she won’t be able to pay the hefty amount in fine. Amber’s team on July 21 filed for appeal against the verdict saying they “believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent.” Johnny Depp was quick to file new paperwork as his countermove with an intention to claw back the $2 million award that the Virginia jury gave the ‘Aquaman’ actress in her $100 million countersuit against Depp.

Johnny Depp swiftly responds to Amber Heard’s appeal of verdict

A statement given to Deadline by Johnny Depp’s rep revealed, “The jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr Depp, in multiple instances” adding, “We remain confident in our case and that this verdict will stand."

For the unversed, a rep for Amber Heard spoke about kicking off the appeal. “We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment”, said the spokesperson further stating, “We are therefore appealing the verdict. While we realize today's filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice."  The latest comes a week after a judge denied the request of Amber Heard for a mistrial claiming one of the jurors was not summoned for jury duty.

‘Round two will be the end of her’

Social media users were quick to react to Johnny Depp’s countermove. “She’s gonna lose that one too so get a job not acting and pay your debt you can shop at the dollar tree and goodwill”, said one user as another claimed, “Round two will be the end of her. She asked for it. Like she asked to look like a a fool the last time. Bring it on AH.” The next one tweeted, “People dumping on Johnny Depp appealing the decision are a hoot.  I have a strong suspicion that if Amber Heard hadn’t filed a Notice of Appeal he wouldn’t have either.”

Meanwhile, an individual asserted, “Remember how I said FACTS MATTER. Johnny Depp HAS appealed. He paid ALL fees associated with appealing.  See the difference between a motion to appeal and actually appealing the verdict.” And, another mentioned, “I wish you lot would keep comments on. So we could actually give you an answer. Johnny had no choice but to appeal since Amber is. So she can’t start collecting the 2 mil. He wouldn’t have appealed if she’d kept quiet.” One user concluded, “I honestly think he should have just left it alone. I believe they review all of the trial info regardless. Now if I'm wrong and they don't view it all, then I agree.”
