'Where's she getting the money from?' Johnny Depp fans furious as Amber Heard files appeal

Amber Heard and her legal team have filed a motion to appeal the ruling from her well-known defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp. The jury ruled that Amber Heard's Washington Post op-ed defamed Johnny Depp and awarded the actor a total of $15 million. The verdict also said that Adam Waldman's comments in 2020 were defamatory to Amber Heard and she was awarded $2 million as well. However, her legal team was quick to broadcast that the actress will not be able to pay the amount whatsoever. Now, she has filed a motion appealing the verdict and people can only think one thing - how is she getting the money to fund all this?

In the statement acquired by TMZ, a spokesperson for Heard said, "We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment. We are therefore appealing the verdict. While we realize today’s filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice." The news was first brought forth by Daily Mail. The motion, filed in Fairfax County Circuit Court, is arguing that the verdict was faulty, putting the court in the wrong. The 'Aquaman' actress has previously tried to fight this thing off with a mistrial bid blaming the court for presenting a jury member who was someone else. The bid was brutally rejected and the judge pointed out several burning facts regarding the neutral position of the jury.

Johnny Depp's legal team made sure that they clarified their stand on this and told the publication, "The jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr Depp, in multiple instances. We remain confident in our case and that this verdict will stand." So far, the jury and judge have been Team Depp, and so is the Internet who cannot stop wondering how can she afford all these legal fees after claiming that she cannot pay Depp. Moreover, she mentioned during the trial that she would be able to pay the charities and live up to her words only if Depp would stop suing her. One person wrote, "Now, if Amber Heard can afford an appeal (even minus the bond) why couldn’t she afford to pay the charities? Is her insurance still paying dispute the malice aspect?
