Contrary to his earlier public political stand, this time actor John Cusack has not followed his fellow left-wing Hollywood elites and slammed the Democratic National Convention (DNC). The 54-year-old, who is a longtime critic of President Donald Trump, took to Twitter to call out DNC 2020 because it was mostly filled with Hollywood stars to keep up the enthusiasm.

This year’s convention saw a number of stars serving as emcees. The list included actresses Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kerry Washington, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Eva Longoria. It also staged actor Billy Porter’s performance on the song ‘For What It’s Worth’. But it seems Cusack was not impressed with any.

The ‘Say Anything’ star tweeted: “Do ya think anyone at dnc entertained the idea - in removing a shitty reality tv star President - Ya might want to avoid presenting a slightly less sh*tty -but unmistakable Campy kitsch and yes sh*tty celebrity-filled reality tv convention - This might not be a good idea?” His other message read, “It’s all showbiz-  all the time. RIP America”.

However, people on Twitter were not happy with Cusack’s views as one reasoned, “They need to appeal to younger voters, and they respond to celebrities.” A second user wrote: “Some people might want something positive and hopeful for the first time in almost 3 years. This has been a great convention”. While some even suggested that the 'High Fidelity' star should also be there at the DNC. “If they had John Cusack at the DNC it would have been far more entertaining,” a user said while another added: “Ya why weren’t you on there.”

Some people on the social media platform also criticized Cusack for his opinion over the DNC 2020 with one writing: “Could you just not. For just a minute could you drop the cynicism & remember it's literally the 1st virtual convention & a bit more produced/"show biz" than usual. There have ALWAYS been actors, musicians. Compare it to the RNC next week & see if you feel the same."

"RNC’s? Kid Rock? Ted Nugent? Scott Baio, A.C.E.? Center wins this one, sir. Gotta coddle the fence-sitters. But we got good peeps where it matters... & they’ll Bern the status quo,” added another one.

This comes after earlier in August, Cusack blasted Trump and called him “the anti Christ for dummies.” “Trump is basically a test run for true evil: the antichrist for dummies. The gods saying We’re going to give you a version so obvious with such Unimaginable Stupidity & abject cretinism & sloth – to show how decadent & empty yr culture & institutions have become – change,” he wrote on Twitter on Wednesday, August 12.

While in July, he criticized the POTUS, saying he is “playing for an exit strategy" after the military has seemingly "abandoned his fascism" and as a result, he has been left with support from only racists across the country. “Trump is playing for an exit strategy – that keeps him from jail- military [sic] has abandoned his fascism – all he’s got left are racists [sic]- He wants something to leverage – to stay out of jail,” Cusack tweeted.
